DON’T BOTHER. What a mistake.

When I signed my healthy baby kitten up for insurance I chose this company, Even though it was far more expensive monthly payments than others would have been, I chose it because I could have a low deductible and not worry about waiting for compensation when emergency treatments would be needed. My cat JUST turned 4 and in those few years I have not yet made a claim for him. Despite this, Trupanion has almost DOUBLED my monthly rate. I am SICK of it. When I reached out to customer service to inquire about this they said that as more similar pets to mine sign up the higher the rate has to go. So I’m effectively being punished for the success of this company attracting more customers. I asked what they could do to bring my rate back down to what I signed up for and she said I would have to triple my deductible, and gave no reason to believe they won’t continue raising the monthly rate after such adjustment. Also their app doesn’t work and their website is trash. I greatly regret choosing this pet insurance and will be changing companies for my pet, I had nationwide for my previous cat’s life and it was far superior. Trupanion has been Absolutely ridiculous. What a disappointment.

Amanda really wowed me

Amanda really wowed me. Her genuineness and knowledge far exceeded the other insurance representatives I spoke with. I genuinely believe her and Fetch have my baby boy’s best interests at heart. Like most people I love my pup, so having someone that understands that was really important to me. Their policy options and price point were just additional benefits. I’m very, very happy with my choice.

BUYER BEWARE: MetLife Pet Insurance Will Deny Everything

If you are looking for a pet insurance company that actually honors its policies instead of taking your money and running, look elsewhere. We have paid MetLife monthly premiums for nearly a year, yet we have not been able to apply a single dollar of our doctor visits toward our deductible. Why? Because MetLife’s claims team works overtime to blame absolutely everything on "pre-existing conditions" to avoid paying out legitimate coverage. Most recently, they denied a claim for an issue involving my dog's foot/toe. Their reason? They are trying to claim a completely unrelated foot issue is somehow "pre-existing" based on completely generalized medical notes. It is absolutely ridiculous! They will twist any past vet visit, no matter how irrelevant, into a blanket excuse to deny new, completely separate illnesses or injuries. They are incredibly polite in their emails ("give Zuma plenty of treats!"), but don't let the friendly tone fool you. Their business model is designed to collect your premiums and deny your claims. We are currently trapped in an ongoing, exhausting fight to appeal their bogus decisions. Save yourself the monthly financial drain and the massive headache. Future buyers beware: MetLife is a massive waste of money when your pet actually needs care.

I have been a customer for 11 years and have made 3 claims. Great customer service and timely reimbursements. I know the policy cost would increase yearly, but it is getting to be quite expensive for not using the insurance very much.

Great easy and quick claim processing

Great easy and quick claim processing. If guidelines are met they always reimburse. I prefer Spot over many other pet insurances. Great coverage at a very affordable price

Spot is great

Spot is great! They are super fast at reviewing my pet bills/claims. I have never had any issue with getting my reimbursement. I also find their monthly rates very fair! I have been a Spot insurance holder for about 2 years.

Trash Insurance

I’ve been with Healthy Paws since my dog was under a year old—he’s now five. In that entire time, I’ve only submitted one claim, and it was processed without any issues. Despite being a low‑risk customer with almost no claims history, my monthly premium has increased repeatedly, climbing from $34.08 to $73.52. That’s more than double the original cost. The constant price hikes are completely unjustified, especially when you’re barely using the coverage. I recommend avoiding this company and looking for a better provider.

I have had this policy for years

I have had this policy for years. The price has gone up over $500 dollars on a healthy young dog for the year. When I spoke with a representative they just save me a sales pitch. As a 25 year veteran in the veterinary world I asked them to stop. They just continued with their script. When I went to cancel the policy they again started with the sales pitches. I had to finally yell through the phone to get them to stop reading their script and just cancel the policy. Come to find out they charge you another month after you cancel per their policy. This company started out so great and have turned into a sales pitch that people can not afford.

Purchased for a new puppy in 2023 and premium was 60 something. Now 2026 and premium is about 189. Ridiculous! Bait and switch for sure. I purchased because they covered more than most but they are increasing premiums to the point of diminishing returns. Not recommended!
