I have had this insurance for 14 years with two different dogs. They are very quick to reimburse medical bills. And the customer service is very helpful and pleasant to deal with. My only complaint is the rates go up 25% a year. It seems a little steep to me.

Claims process is easy and payments are received within 2 or 3 days. I would make it 5 stars if they billed the clinic, directly, right at time of visit but Ive been quite satisfied overall. The monthly payments are more reasonable than other companies as well

Typical sleazy insurance behavior
Vet had to put my dog under anesthesia to take care of an abscess on his tail. After the abscess procedure was done they offered to clean his teeth while he was out. Trupanion then only covered half of the anesthesia because it was used for another procedure even though it had already been required for the original covered procedure.

Very upset that you didn’t cover for my dogs cleaning. I don’t understand paying $92 a month for insurance that doesn’t cover what’s important to prevent unnecessary problems. A simple cleaning is all that I had for my dog.

Trupanion has paid for itself in the long run
Trupanion has paid for itself now for many years, as my dog has had totally unexpected emergencies/medical needs. If you’re on the fence about the benefit of pet insurance (like I once was) just go for it and you won’t be sorry. I started when my dog was a healthy mix breed puppy, with no predictable health issues in her future. She has proven to be an expensive girl haha. So grateful for Trupanion helping me get her the best care without a second thought!
