Great claim process

Claim process was easy, best part was direct payment to my back account. only issue i have are the email communications are not always clear and not very personal. otherwise, coverage is great and it did what they said they would do. i got paid on an ER claim and a routine care claim- great to know i have this

Nationwide has our back!

I knew Nationwide would pitch in when we were faced with the recent injury and bills; it allowed us to make the best decisions for Otis' care and treatment. His eye is healing, and as a 16 month old puppy, he has a lifetime of vision to thank you for!

Top notch customer service and insurance coverage for your pup!

I signed up for dog insurance a few months ago as a precaution but I was honestly still skeptical of if something happened would it be a hassle to try to get covered? I learned the hard way that accidents happen last year and changed my mindset on my Dixie girl is healthy, I don’t need dog insurance. She is a 6 year old Aussie / Border Collie mix rescue and highly active. However, last year, I started to look into pet insurance and policies after almost losing her to a crazy foxtail incident. She had become septic, they didn’t know why and she had to have emergency exploratory surgery. It took a year to pay off that bill and then decided to get a policy with ASCPA a few months ago for peace of mind. The stress of almost losing your dog and trying to figure out how to pay a very expensive hospital bill is just not something I want to combine ever again. Today, I am so happy I made that decision to get a monthly policy with ASPCA! As luck would have it or unfortunately, not long after the waiting period was over, Dixie started limping. Turns out she had completely torn her CCL (ACL for dogs) and needed TPLO surgery. Also due to the upcoming surgery, her being inside and other meds she needed to take, we took her off flee meds for the month and she also got a hot spot on her tail from flee allergies. She had aggravated this over night to the point that it needed vet care on a Sunday. Long story short, all claims were approved with our new plan of $500 deductible and 90% reimbursed. I have always thought of insurance as being a hassle if you do have a claim but after a short period, I am beyond impressed! In all seriousness, I would like to switch my personal insurance policy to ASCAP. This was a non hassle process and customer service was beyond caring and helpful! I honestly now feel really happy about the monthly fee with knowing my dog is protected! I highly recommend ASPCA! The only hiccup for me with processing the first claim was not realizing how and what is needed for new policies which caused a delay ... So here’s my tip for new policies and claims: The easiest and quickest way to get info that ASPCA needs in order to process your first claim is to call and/or email every vet your dog has seen with the following info request: “I need all medical history records or emailed to me for insurance purposes. Also, please add a note in file stating that I authorize the release any records or info to ASPCA if contacted.” Your vet/s will send to you quickly and it’s good to just have a copy for your files anyways. It is much easier and quicker for you to call your vet to get records than to leave that to ASPCA, based on my experience. Your vet needs your permission to release records which can cause a hold up if you leave that to ASPCA to try to do. You also need to request records for every vet you have seen separately. I, personally, didn’t know that records for Dixie’s emergency care were not added to her primary care vet records even though I did request this. ASPCA needs the whole history for new policies. For the first month, I honestly wasn’t even paying attention to the claim and more concerned with Dixie care after surgery. When I actually called customer service they were beyond amazing and I realized the hold up was my vet and info they still needed from me/ my vets. I was able to get that info emailed to me within 5 minutes from just calling multiple vets. The awesome ASCPA customer service rep whom I spoke with, Sandee, handled and processed all within one business day after I got her the history info needed! Thank you Sandee! The next few claims took about a week to process! Thank you ASPCA! Your customer service is on point and as a dog mom it is good to know my baby is protected! My Dixie Lu is definitely an ASPCA dog for life :)

Amazing Coverage for Pets

Every time our dog has needed emergency care Nationwide Pet Insurance has been there for us. We just wish there was a way to speed up the claims because 30 days is a bit too long.

Nationwide is the best coverage ever. We are very pleased with Dustie's coverage.

We have been with Nationwide (VPI formerly) for over 30 years. The coverage has been excellent and I always recommend Nationwide to my friends that are asking about pet insurance. I know a few have signed up already.

Easy to submit claims.

The process of snapping a picture, of my receipt, on my phone than hitting submit was so easy I did it while at the veterinarian's office. My claim was received and processed within a day. I received my check within 1-2 weeks.

Positive exchanges

More recent, I've had positive exchanges w/Trupanion & this interaction was excellent. The reason for "8" vs. "10" is that I prefer an annual plan vs. a "per condition" plan. Although I'm becoming more accustomed w/Trupanion, for me it is far easier to case manage a per annum plan. That being said, I also recognize the benefits of some of Trupanion's coverages, e.g., coverage for PRP and stem cell therapies that other plans do not cover.
