Claims submission
I often have difficulty with claims submission via fax. When I try to send it in, the fax machine often disconnects after 1 or 2 pages are sent. I fax many different businesses and Nationwide is the only company I have this problem with so I think the issue is with your fax machine. Since it does not transmit, I often get an email from your company saying information is incomplete. Then I am also worried to send again, or send via another method because I know you don't like duplicate submissions. One other issue I had was I had 1 claim denied for preexisting. My dog had allergies that manifest in his feet with swelling and redness but this claim was for an actual cut on his paw....a cut is definitely not something that would be preexisting.

VPI Pet Insurance is the BEST!
When I adopted my Rottweiler Sophie in 2014 I immediately signed up for VPI insurance through my employer and I am so glad I did. Unfortunately, she tore both her ACL's and required TPLO surgeries to repair. I cannot express the relief I had when I realized this surgery would be covered. When I told my veterinarian I had VPI, he said "that's great, you are all set!' This surgery is very intense and expensive, but the only way to provide relief for this injury. Both surgeries have been done and Sophie is acting like her old self again! I tell everyone at work they need to sign up for this benefit!

Hugo had the same 2 surgeries in 2 months! Healthy Paws took care of nearly all the costs!
I only wish humans could have as good of coverage that Healthy Paws insurance gives! Hugo our terrier,-doxie mix has always obsessively sniffed around low to the ground like a vacuum. At 2 years old he is getting smarter about how to get the right things to satisfy his chewing. We are just getting smarter too but only after learning the hard lesson of having Hugo admitted for 2 small intestine surgeries in 2 1/2 months! I kid you not! 2 surgery’s- 2 months! First was his desperation to dig out the squeaker of a plush toy (some have 2-3 in their design and without looking for one second he swallowed one. A week later he was projectile vomiting every 5 minutes. With his most worried face we drove him at 4am to the 24 hr. emergency room at Blue Pearl in Brooklyn. We found out he needed to have an incision going from chest plate to pelvis splitting him wide open to remove the obstruction from his small intestine followed by a segment of his large intestine being removed due to bruising and precautionary in case of an opening later that could cause sepsis. In the end this surgery cost us $8000. Within a month we were paid back our claim to Healthy Paws almost $7000! I couldn’t believe it. Hugo was on the mend and everything was back to normal and 2 and a half months later he swallowed a piece of an attatchment to my suitcase! This surgery was THE SAME ALL OVER AGAIN! Same incision same everything! Minus the large intestine removal. This cost us $6500 and Healthy Paws didn’t need anything extra from us information wise since they were familiar with his last emergency. Healthy Paws SAVED our dog. They called us to check on Hugo’s progress and repaid almost the whole amount. Their sympathetic and sensitive voices showed such concern. It was a very comforting experience during a traumatic moment in our lives as parents. THANK YOU HEALTHY PAWS!
