Dishonest and Misleading—Avoid Trupanion
We recently got a puppy, and the first owners had a one-month insurance policy with Trupanion, which we were encouraged to renew. During a routine vet visit for vaccinations, our vet noticed that our 14-week-old puppy had lower canines growing into the upper inner gums—a teething issue that had just started. When we called Trupanion, we spoke with Amanda from Sales, who assured us that this issue would be covered under the policy if we renewed. Trusting her word, we renewed the policy. However, after our vet submitted a pre-approval for the extraction procedure, Trupanion denied the claim, stating it was a pre-existing condition. This was never raised as an issue during renewal. When we called back to contest the decision, they continued to make excuses, eventually claiming the issue was reported within 30 days of renewal and therefore ineligible. Why are we paying such high premiums for a company that denies valid claims using vague and shifting excuses? They misled us into renewing the policy with assurances of coverage, only to leave us with no support when we needed it most. This is especially infuriating as it concerns a young, 14-week-old puppy just starting to teethe—something no one could predict. It feels like Trupanion is exploiting pet owners, offering false assurances while denying legitimate claims under the guise of "pre-existing conditions." New pet owners are already anxious and adjusting, and this kind of dishonesty only adds to the stress. Trupanion has shown zero care or compassion and seems more focused on collecting premiums than supporting pets or their owners. Avoid Trupanion. Easy to file, quick to receive a determination
It is very easy to make a claim with Pets Best. Many claims are reimbursed. When they are not, clear and reasonable explanations are provided to explain why the claims aren't covered.

"My parents were able to take my dog to the vet while they "borrowed" him for a trip to the Eastern Sierras. We were able to update his rabies vaccination and get him licensed in our municipality shortly thereafter. Filing a claim with Pets Best was simple and claim was processed within a day. Aloha Dre!"

When I Axel four years ago, I enrolled in Pets best pet insurance and have been extremely happy with the way they handle axles wellness visits in inoculations. The claims process is fast and easy to do and it dealt with extreme care and courtesy. Thank you for all you do and I will continue to use Pets Best pet insurance in the future.

Well Worth It!
"I have 3 rescue cats. All of them young and related. They are indoor only cats but that doesn't mean they don't have accidents, illnesses, and regularly need to see their Vet for wellness visits. I learned a long time ago that you need to have really good pet insurance. Pets Best is by far the most comprehensive pet insurance I've had. They are very transparent with your costs and reimbursements. They are easy to get in touch with for assistance and I find filing a claim online to be simple and straightforward. My male cat dislocated his knee and had to have major surgery which was expensive. Pets Best covered this. We have no idea how he did it but at 2 years old, he clearly believed he could fly. Perhaps he had to learn the hard way that he's not a bird. His mother and sister suffered from urine crystals and we have been working with our Vet to clear this up as the little girl cat developed stones, which is quite serious. Pets Best covered their tests and medications which is substantial. Pets Best is an essential for my ability to take care of my cats. They allow me to keep my fur babies in excellent health. I am very pleased with their service. "
