More than fair and generous
First of all, I want to advice all pet owners to read the policy limits thoroughly when they purchase a plan and also to buy insurance while your pet is young. Also Read the policy changes upon every renewal! Trupanion, for instance, does have a preexisting condition cause and imposes some limits in the first few months of coverage. But they cover conditions that other insurance don't, including luxating patellas, etc. It is not a wellness plan, but a Major Medical plan and you can determine the deductible per incident yourself. So Trupanion does not pay exam fees or routine dental cleanings and vaccinations. But they cover ultrasounds, surgeries, medicines,lab tests, x-rays, etc. We pay for a supplemental rider for alternative medicine and therapies as well, including physical therapy. Trupanion has reimbursed us thousands of dollars over the years for our little Westie mix who has had more than his share of health issues and a few accidents as well. In fact, our vet called him the "poster child for pet health insurance!" They have covered Melo for Pancreatitis, Teeth extractions, prescription medicines, a torn paw tendon, etc. The deductible is per condition, so even though Melo has had a few years of treatment for a liver/gall bladder condition, the deductible only applied once! Over nine years, they have turned down only a few claims, only one of which I thought was an unfair denial, but hey have been very transparent. They even prorated the anesthesia for dental cleanings (wellness and preventive care not covered) when we had other procedures done under anesthesia at the same time! I am very glad that Trupanion relieves our money worries when Melo needs care so we can concentrate on giving him the best quality of life. In spite of medical issues, our nine-year-old dog remains a happy and active little dog. Thank God for Trupanion.

Better than expected
As we were new to Pets Best and our dog was visiting a new Vet Clinic since we had just moved. It took a little while to get all our records from our previous Vet. But, once we received the previous Vet information. It seemed like our claim was reviewed in a timely manner and quickly processed. As of right now I'm quite pleased with Pets Best insurance for my two dogs.
