Absolutely awful experience
Absolutely awful experience! I'm constantly asked for more documentation when I've provided all of the documentation from our vet. It's as if MetLife is finding excuses to not pay for my pet's care.

Original plan (2017) was great. Now it’s nothing.
With the original plan it was great, though the claims process leaves a lot to be desired. I’m active duty military and I unfortunately missed the change of coverage due to deployment, they said I couldn’t change back to maximum coverage until policy renal timeframe. Well I called and they said I already had the maximum coverage based on age.. e.g. not worth the money. I immediately cancelled both my pets since it’s more cost effective to save what I paid monthly vs pay the monthly rate and deductible. I think they used to be so good. But now, no thank you

Submitted a $11,000 plus vet emergency…
Submitted a $11,000 plus vet emergency hospital bill. My dog has DKA (Diabetic Ketone acidosis). The vet hospital was amazing, they kept him for almost four days. Taking blood every hour and adjusting the insulin to see what was the correct dose. I submitted my vet bill. It did take approximately two weeks. I have a deductible and Healthy Paws paws 70%. They paid me what my coverage said. I had to get Care Credit at the vet hospital as my lone credit card got maxed out for his treatment. Now that I have paid down Care Credit from my Healthy Paws reimbursement. I feel like I can breath easy again and if my little boy needs additional vet care I feel a lot easier. I have been with Healthy Paws since 2017. Worth every penny.

My recent claim for my dog
My recent claim for my dog, Yoda, I felt like I got the run around. I was informed after filing the claim to provide clinical notes (which I thought I had provided-DC summary was not in fact enough). I requested said notes and in the day it took me to get them and attempt to submit (later in the pm as I work during the daytime) the claim had been closed down and settled for only a fraction of the bill-when it said I had 10 days. Then when calling there were at least 2 calls with 2 different helpers asking me to provide different things to rectify the situation. Ultimately, I had to apply for an appeal to get the situation resolved, which I think it is now. The reason the claim was denied payment upon (or only 50$ towards) was unfounded and felt like a cop out to just settle it unfairly-calling it a "pre-existing" condition. I was disappointed in the amount of time and run around I seemed to get when my dog was violently ill over night and into a holiday-the reason I took him to the pet ER.

Stealth modification to PDS
Be very careful, looks like in the last 12-18months they added under exclusions any open heart surgery, including valve repairs or replacements etc… see page 17 of the Hollard issued policy PDS. This was never in their policy and was not advertised as a change but suddenly been sneaked into their PDS in the past 12-18months. This is atrocious practice, I don’t mind paying the higher prices seeing my insurance increased from $66per month to almost double in 5yrs but to then go an reduce the cover in a stealthy fashion… for one of the key treatment areas as dogs get older. This is extremely poor practice, I would ask they reconsider and remove this newly added exclusion. Hopefully I get a real reply from their customer service and not an AI generated generic response but a real response addressing why this was added to the PDS by stealth around 12-18mths ago. Wait for the generic, insurance is complex… call us for assistance templated reply. Let’s see.

Figo Pet insurance is terrible
Figo Pet insurance rejected my claim and classified the vet office visit for a limping dog as ‘non veterinary services’ I have appealed. This will be my second appeal this year, I think they just reject every claim and hope you won’t appeal. My first appeal (2/26) was because my puppy wellness visit included talk about golden retriever allergies, then 6 months later, when he was 8 months old, and I brought him in with an ear infection, they claimed he had pre existing allergy condition. A dog that has never had an allergy problem, they also told me I would never get allergies covered for him ever again. Nice. I can wait to look for new insurance!
