So disappointing
If my dog gets diagnosed with a periodontal disease, it will be considered a pre-existing condition and not covered under her insurance. I was told that this was a brand new thing and it’s ludicrous. I need to have her teeth cleaned and was looking at an $800 bill. I have just been so disappointed with this insurance and more than likely will change once her policy expires later this year.

I firmly believe your company simply takes our money every month and doesnt' pay for ANYTHING. If our dog wasn't so old, we would definitely cancel. This was the first time you actually paid anything. Never again.

I Bought Pet Insurance Hoping I’d Never Need It. Then Cancer Happened.
When Shenzi developed pyometra, we were faced with an unexpected emergency surgery and over $3,500 in veterinary bills. Like many pet parents, we found a way to make it work, but it was stressful and financially overwhelming. After that experience, I enrolled Shenzi in Trupanion. I hoped I would never need to use it, but having coverage gave me peace of mind knowing that if another major health issue arose, I wouldn’t have to choose between finances and her care. A year later, Shenzi was diagnosed with mammary carcinoma. Between surgery to remove the tumor, diagnostic testing to determine whether the cancer had spread, pathology, follow-up care, and additional treatment recommendations, the costs quickly became substantial at more than $10,000. Without Trupanion, many of the decisions surrounding Shenzi’s care would have been far more difficult. Instead of focusing on how I was going to afford the next procedure, I was able to focus on what mattered most—her health, her comfort, and giving her the best quality of life possible. No one gets pet insurance hoping they’ll need it. But when the unexpected happens, having that support can make an impossible situation manageable. I am incredibly grateful that Trupanion exists and thankful for the peace of mind they’ve provided during one of the most challenging periods of Shenzi’s life. Thank you, Trupanion, for allowing me to focus on Shenzi’s care instead of the financial burden of treatment. Because of your support, I was able to make decisions based on what was best for her—not what I could afford—and that tru-ly made all the difference.

Terrible Company!
Terrible experience with Trupanion! I enrolled my 1.5-year-old pup in 2024 for $150/month and a $150 deductible. Last year they increased my monthly rate to $230 and this year to $380!! That's a ridiculous increase so I have canceled my plan! At this rate, with no more rate increases (!!), I would pay Trupanion 40k if my pup lives to 12! They also comb over your pet's records and look for things to exclude. And remember that well visits/shots/dental are not included. Do the math and put your money aside...definitely not worth! Plus they are quick to deny claims. Shameful company!
