I insured my pet under the understanding that they wont increase the cost given my dog age, coincedentally, as my dog gets older the premium has almost duplicated. Luckily in 5 years i never had to submit a claim so i cannot say wheter they do pay or no. For reference, this is what i paid for a mixed rottweiler since we got her at 2yrs old 2021-$109 2022-$110 2023-$124 (13% increase y/y) 2024-$157 (27% increase y/y) 2025-$188 (20% increas y/y) 2026-$220 (17% increas y/y) From 2021 to 2026 the insurance increased duplicdated (101%)

Pumpkin Insurance Highly Recommended for our furry friends
As a proud dog mom to a miniature schnauzer named Paco, I take his health and wellbeing very seriously. When Paco was about 12 months old, I decided to purchase pet insurance, and I chose Pumpkin because of the flexibility and coverage they offer. One of the main reasons I selected Pumpkin is that the insurance is recognized statewide, which is very helpful for people who may relocate and don’t want the hassle of changing providers. They also offer multiple plan options beyond the standard package, including preventative care. I opted for the preventative care plan along with the 90% reimbursement option, which has worked very well for us. Pumpkin’s pricing is incredibly reasonable, and the claims reimbursement process is very timely. I have found the turnaround time for refunds to be quite fast, and their claims department has been efficient. Customer service has also been excellent. Anytime I have had questions or concerns, the representatives have been knowledgeable and helpful. If I’m unsure whether a cost will be covered, Pumpkin offers a review process where they can estimate what portion of the claim would likely be reimbursed. I typically receive responses within 24 hours. Overall, my experience has been very positive. I would highly recommend Pumpkin Insurance to any pet owner, especially those who value flexibility, responsive customer service, and reliable coverage for their pet.

52.5% INCREASE in premium after first year for a 2-yr old cat with no claims. Went from $72/mo to $110/mo. This is price gouging. There is no justifying this. Their chat response: Trupanion assesses policy rates at each renewal. There are five rating factors that are reviewed: 1) the breed of your pet, 2) the sex of your pet, 3) the age at which your pet was enrolled, 4) your location, and 5) the deductible on your policy. Because insurance is a shared risk, Trupanion looks at all pets insured in our book of business that are in a similar category to your pet. So we look at all Maine Coons, all female pets, all pets enrolled under one year old, all pets in and around Round Lake IL, and all policies with a deductible of $250. An average is taken from each category and if a deficit is projected based on how much was paid out in claims for all pets in those categories versus what the rates are currently set to, then the rate will be adjusted so Trupanion can continue to offer the same, unlimited coverage.

I'm thankful I have Spot Pet Insurance…
I'm thankful I have Spot Pet Insurance as my 5 year old boxer has lymphoma. Because of Spot, I have been able to get her treatment/chemotherapy that I would not have been able to afford on my own. It's easy to submit claims and I have been quickly reimbursed by Spot. It would be great if the annual cap was higher given the current cost of veterinary care.
