After eight years with Healthy Paws

After eight years with Healthy Paws, my premium is increasing from $155.33 to $339 per month — a 118% jump. What began as about $35 per pet has now risen to $131 for one dog and $208 for the other starting in August. I understand that premiums can increase due to age, inflation, and rising veterinary costs. But an increase of this magnitude feels extreme and was never clearly communicated when I enrolled. Reasonable adjustments are expected — doubling the premium is another matter. Because of this increase, I ultimately had to cancel the insurance. What makes this particularly frustrating is that for one of my dogs I paid premiums consistently for years and barely used the policy. The explanations provided so far (age, region, veterinary trends) are very general and lack transparency. Without concrete data or clear rate filings, it’s difficult to understand how such a dramatic increase is determined. I chose pet insurance so my dogs would be protected as they age, not so I’d be priced out of coverage when they might need it most. At the very least, long-term customers deserve clearer transparency around how premiums are calculated and why increases of this scale occur.

Everything was quite easy

Everything was quite easy. We've never had pet insurance before and we chose ASPCA because of the cost and all of the things you cover. We are getting our first reimbursement soon!

they raise the premium after a claim

After 6 years with no claims, our pet needed a one-time surgery. They DOUBLED our premium in the following weeks. Stay away from them, there are other pet insurance companies out there that are more reasonable and humain.

Hi love Healthy Paws

Hi love Healthy Paws! And I think the coverage is fair! The ONLY note I would have is I would love if Healthy Paws looked into covering herbal/holistic treatments!

Best Pet Insurance!

We switched to Pets Best after our previous emergency-only pet insurance raised rates twice. Even after adding the Wellness Package, we’re paying less than we were before. Our first claim for Heartgard was processed quickly and reimbursed by direct deposit. So far we’re very happy we made the switch!
