Useless. Will deny every claim and don’t cover well visits
Trupanion has charged me a fortune for my older dog that has never had any health issues. This past year and a half she had two and they denied both right away. The $66 I pay a month for years now doesn’t even get me well visits or vaccines. Not worth the money

Okay Insurance
I teter back and forth trying to decide if this insurance is worth it. Clifford’s last visit was for discharge from his penis and constant licking. He has never done this before. But it was not covered because again, we were told it was a pre existing condition. He has had allergic type occurances before, but never there. So I guess every time he has an itch or skin problem it’s not covered. I know this was in my contract that dermatology isn’t covered. Almost every other thing I have submitted, I have had to resubmit for one reason or another. For example, they wanted a copy of the prescription for Frontline Plus. There is no prescription for this! Plus dental. I could go on. We have to fight for every check we have gotten. We are keeping it for a while, but will re-evaluate this at the end of the year.

Reliable!
When our puppy got a mystery something, we didn’t have to worry about the cost it would take to figure out how to make him better. The reliability of the insurance keeps my dog healthy, and helps his humans also keep a healthy attitude!

I'm very happy with this insurance.
I've never had any issues in the 6 years I've had this insurance. It really helps with flea and tick, and heartworm medicine and I feel secure that if my dog or cat would need expensive vet services, this insurance would be a great help.

Amazing
Love this insurance. I feel my furbaby is well protected and I am at ease knowing I can manage his health bills if need be. I have sent many of my friends over to Nationwide and everyone has been quite pleased.

Nationwide is the best!
Nationwide has given us peace of mind for both our dogs. I’m glad we got the insurance. It’s well worth the cost.

Great coverage
We couldn't be happier with the coverage we have for both of our adopted mutts. We debated if pet insurance was worth it. I discussed it with my husband last fall when it was offered at my work. We decided to give it a go. Within the first 5 months of the year, we had already met our deductible for each dog due to heart worm and flea/tick meds. Now, when we have vet visits, the insurance covers 90%. So far, so good.

Some things I love and others might cause me to change
I love the Vet Helpline, it has been very helpful to me during a very difficult time with my pets. (primarily one of my cats). Overall, there are things about VPI Pet Insurance (I still call you this, not Nationwide) that I love. I can go to any vet, anywhere in the world and submit a claim at any time. These are the things that keep me here. What I am finding difficult is the sudden surge in cost after my pets turned 10 - even though they have been at VPI since they were 10 weeks old and I have a number of pets. The second, is it seems that I am getting less reimbursement for claims - for example, medication is not included but when my cat is over 10 years old, he actually does need regular medication. With the surge in cost, I'm now not so sure VPI is as good as it seems to be when my animals are really sick.

Claim review
My only two issues with the insurance is the length of time it takes to be reimbursed and the fact it doesn’t cover hereditary issues.
