App Based
I submit any claim from my veterinarian to MetLife Pet Insurance and eventually get a response back either good or missing notes from the vet. Nice my insurance refund is added to my PayPal account. Sometimes a little difficult to find and upload files from the iPhone.

My experience is slow to pay always…
My experience is slow to pay always looking for a way to get out of paying after over 14 years of paying my monthly premium. When I submit a bill they say well it’s eligible for review. Then days go by. my vet sent them a bill directly over half a month ago Trupanion says we’re waiting for information from your vet. My vet says they’ve already sent everything two weeks ago. If you look at the top 10 that insurance companies, Trupanion is not on the list.

Sometimes, be less of a business.
We lost our dog to kidney disease 10 days ago. Trupanion sent an email saying they would refund the premium I paid for May. I thought this was a really nice thing to do for a grieving pet owner who has been paying Trupanion premiums for over 15 years. The refund difference would have been under $40 . Turns out they only prorated the premium and charged me for 5 days. I'm only getting a partial refund. I called customer service and got a "this is how it works" explanation at least 4 times. 15 years+ ago I find this business that tries to give the impression that they care about pets, is mostly interested in the money. And they're expensive. I enrolled my dog as a puppy but as my dog aged the premiums went up and at the end I was paying over $200 a month. So you can see how that $40 would effect a multi million dollar company's bottom line. I had been with this company for so long and I thought they really had some empathy for people who lost their pets but ultimately, that's not the case. I will not refer anyone to Trupanion again. I hear Nationwide has pretty good rates and generous coverage.

Premiums aren’t cheap
The premiums are expensive, the deductibles are OK. Mostly the rating is for ease of submitting claims. They are usually paid within 10-14 days.
