The perfect pet insurance
Healthy Paws provides the best coverage for pets with a hassle-free claim process. A policy with Healthy Paws makes it easy for pet owners to focus on caring for their pets and getting them the treatment they need whenever they need it, without being overly concerned about cost. In many ways, I wish human health insurance were so simple and transparent. ;-) Many years ago we purchased our first pet insurance coverage with another company (Pets Best): that coverage was inexpensive and seemed like it would be quite useful in limiting costs while providing incentives for regular checkups. While it was helpful in offsetting costs for smaller incidents, as our dogs aged we quickly found that the policy has payout maximums and "separate occurrence" definitions that limited their coverage quite sharply. We soon re-evaluated our options for insurance coverage and made the switch to Healthy Paws. Whenever the unexpected has happened, we've been able to rely on Healthy Paws to provide consistent, understandable coverage for our pets. Most recently, one of our pets contracted a urinary infection while on vacation, which required a trip to an emergency clinic for treatment. We knew that whatever treatment she needed, it would be covered - and it was! :-) The broad coverage and clear policies have consistently covered various needs for our dogs, spanning knee surgery, upset stomachs, and broken nails; with no claim or lifetime maximums to worry about, there's no concern about "exhausting" the coverage or having to make financial decisions about the well-being of a pet. The claim process is extremely easy with their website: upload an itemized receipt and they take care of the rest. There's occasionally a follow-up question or two - which is easy to answer - and they follow up with the veterinary clinic, typically completing the claim and sending the reimbursement within a few days. It couldn't be easier

Trupanion is the first Pet Insurance Company I've dealt with that pays for claims when all policy conditions are met.
I heard about Trupanion Pet Insurance through my Primary Veterinarian's Office. Before contacting Trupanion, I did research on Pet Insurance. I did not have a positive experience with a previous Pet Insurance Company. When I first contacted Trupanion, I talked to a very pleasant, and helpful receptionist. She asked me questions about my pets, and we discussed the coverage I needed. I provided a copy of my Veterinarian's orthopedic and wellness exam, and we agreed on a policy package. In addition, I received premium discounts for my two dogs, because they are certified Therapy Dogs. My dog, Jovie, had 3 episodes of random lameness, of short duration. I had Jovie covered with Trupanion for 18 months, with no claims. After the 3rd unexplained lameness, I took her to an Orthopedic Specialist to do a hind-end analysis. The Orthopedic Specialist suspected 'Osteochondritis Dissecans' in both ankles. He scheduled a CT scan, and the results were as predicted. The course of action was surgery on both hocks to remove debris and damage from OCD lesions. Bone marrow will be extracted to make stem cells, which will be injected to rejuvenate the hocks. There will be follow-up exams; PT; support wraps; and more since OCD is a progressive disease. After meeting my deductible, and providing Trupanion with all the required forms, they honored my policy!!! Trupanion is paying 90% of every claim pertaining to Jovie's OCD. I HIGHLY recommend Trupanion for Pet Insurance!

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE PAYING INTO!
Borderline a scam to get loving pet parent's hard earned money, while actually covering very little. PLEASE PLEASE read every fine print and ask questions! Do not assume anything. This company will not cover ANYTHING related to a pre-existing injury or illness to your dog. So for example, if your dog hurt their left leg 6 months before you got the insurance, then anything that happens to that leg AFTER is on you. They won't even cover prescriptions, if it pertains to that leg! Insane. What is the insurance good for??? Not to mention, good luck actually getting customer service on the phone in under 30 minutes. Terrible experience and $400 dollars down the drain. It's a shame to take advantage of people.
