Beware - Coverage goes DOWN if pet gets sick
I have been faithfully trying to keep my dog alive and happy since his terminal adrenal gland cancer diagnosis last fall. The vet visits and chemo prescriptions are very expensive and the ASPCA $3,000 per incident coverage limit, while helpful, only covers a portion of the costs. We have been paying into our policy for nearly 9 years, ever since we rescued our pup. Now I have just been told that his coverage will go DOWN for his "ongoing condition" once the year re-sets on September 1. Yeah, let that sink in a second. It's not a pre-existing condition, it's an "ongoing condition" for which we are only entitled $1,000 in reimbursement going forward. What sense does this make? A dog, or a person for that matter, with a serious incurable condition, does not need LESS coverage as time goes on, they need more. When I called the company to discuss this I was told that there are newer policies available as of a year or two ago that have better coverage for so-called ongoing conditions, but I was never made aware of those policies and I'm just stuck with what I've got. It seems to me that the ASPCA in theory would share the pet owner's goal of keeping their animal healthy and happy and well-treated as long as possible. Who would create a policy that diminishes coverage for conditions over time? Only someone worried about the bottom line. Buyer beware.

Easy and quick claims process
I have had bad experiences in the past with other insurance companies finding any possible way to deny my claims but I haven’t had a single claim denied by Nationwide. I love that office visits and routine care are covered (I have the Whole Pet with Wellness plan). I am now able to get my dog the best care possible and feel comfortable knowing Nationwide won’t try to find a way to deny my claims

My bully baby is protected!!
I was very nervous about getting my first bulldog and more nervous about selecting an insurance from the 100 emails I was getting when I requested quotes. I read through the ASPCA Pet Insurance policy and was excited that illness and accidents would be covered under my plan at 90%. it helped me relax knowing I can take my dog to the doctor just like a child would need to visit in the event of getting sick or injured. I love the website, submitting claims online has been easy and getting a clear Explanation of Benefits to tell me what was covered and what I can get reimbursed for. You always need to ensure you have your receipts and medical records to submit but they take care of the rest. Calling into customer service has always resulted in getting answers and their follow up for my dogs care is very personal. I am sure I will stay with this plan for years to come and recommend this plan to others without reservation.

Getting figo pet insurance was one of the best decisions I ever made!
My dog had a medical emergency that required hospitalization and lots and lots of blood and imaging work. Luckily he was able to be saved, but the vet bill was enormous! Luckily when I uploaded all the claims for his bills (5 in total costing over $4,000) figo covered them exactly how it was described in my plan with zero hassle, and they were crazy fast! The claims were processed and approved within 2 days and I received the checks in the mail within a week!! I can’t say enough good things about this company, they make such a horrible situation like almost losing your animal easier knowing that you can make all the needed choices and they will take care of you! Every dog owner should get figo insurance in my opinion!

Nationwide Insurance has great benefits and process - quick and easy - coverage is excellent!
Chester (poodle) needed heartworm preventative - my vet does not offer his preferred brand (and it was painful trying to switch him over last year). I purchased the preventative from the usual online outlet and submitted the claim to Nationwide via email. Seems like a short time later, I received an email saying the reimbursement had been made. This is my first year with Nationwide - they covered his senior bloodwork and other tests at the pre-arranged level, after the deductible. Easy and quick! I've had two very ill senior dogs in the past - I wish I had this coverage then.

Slow processing and lack of communication
As an insurance broker myself, the claims process we just went through for my puppy was less than pleasant. The claims process did not seem to make sense.. as we submitted multiple invoices from different vet appointments (all pertaining to the same occurrence) yet they were all reviewed and classified as individual claims. The processing time was very slow and I had to resubmit information multiple times. We never spoke to a person and even the online progress portal was not updated regularly.

Thanks for your financial assistance. It helped keep my buddy with me.
What can I say, Nationwide insurance saved my Labradors life several times. JB has been treated for cancer, diabetes, ingestion of a foreign object and ACL repair.. Without Nationwide Pet Insurance JB wouldn't l be here with us. After ingestion of a foreign object JB had a 5 day inpatient hospital stay costing $13,000 Nationwide took majority of the burden for that visit and allowed me to provide care to JB until he regained his strength. Currently JB is a diabetic relying on 2 injections of insulin per day. The monthly cost of Insulin is roughly $175 and Nationwide covers that cost. Even though JB has so many health related issues , Nationwide premium stayed manageable. Reimbursement for claims is very quick and done on the computer. If your on the fence about insurance coverage for your pet, take my advise its worth every cent. People pay more for cable TV per month than it costs to cover your pet. Think about whats more important. Nationwide I thank you so much for your support. Sincerely,

Good experience
After several years having not made any claims (and the insurance being expensive for us), it finally paid off with Izzy's surgery. The claims were handled fairly quickly and at the 90% reimbursement as stated. Thank you, Nationwide.
