Complete rip off
Have had the policy for over 12 years. Premiums more than doubled but when my dog needed emergency life saving surgery they covered 20%. Over the years they never covered more than 15-20% of any major procedure. No point of having insurance if they don’t cover a reasonable amount of legitimate claims.

Nationwide is the Only way to go!
All 3 of our pets are covered by Nationwide aso they are the Best! Most of the time we have very little need for services. But it makes all the difference in the world giving peace of mind when something happens. I can take my fur babies and don't worry how to cover the cost. I just take care of my pet, submit the bill, and move on. Thank you Nationwide for giving us peace of mind!!

I Highly Recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance
We are so happy to have Healthy Paws pet insurance for both of our babies! Our youngest, Cooper, recently required surgery and Healthy Paws was with us every step of the way! Their online claims filing is so easy and we had a check in hand within 2 weeks after his surgery for all of the covered expenses, as outlined on their website. There were no hidden exclusions and no complicated procedures. We even received a follow up email checking on how he was doing! The best part of Healthy Paws is the peace of mind signing up with them gives you. Because of them, we were able to concentrate on taking care of Cooper, without worrying about the vet bills. We highly recommend Healthy Paws to everyone for their fur babies!

insurance for the unexpected
I am so thankful I switched to Healthy Paws pet insurance. I’ve carried pet insurance for years and one problem I’ve had in choosing policy benefits is that an upper limit you find adequate today may be totally inadequate 10 years from now as veterinary costs increase with inflation. If you wanted to then increase your benefits, even with the insurer you have, it would be necessary to get a whole new policy, and any illnesses your pet had in the past years would be excluded as pre-existing conditions. A friend suggested their insurer to me, Healthy Paws which has no upper limit on benefits. They do not, however, cover office visit, or consultation fees. They explained to me that this is the trade-off for keeping premiums low, and that insurance is really for the unexpected. Well, the unexpected happened: one of my dogs, Topi, ingested something poisonous, which was determined to be from the oleander bush. Oleander poisoning is very rare, even though this bush is planted everywhere in Southern California, because there’s no reason dogs would want to eat it. This kind of poison affects the heart, and the vets at the ER said his heartbeat was arrhythmic and fluctuating wildly. The next morning he was moved to a veterinary hospital where they were able to hook him up to a temporary pacemaker. After four days in the ICU, he recovered and is now home and fully recovered, but not before his lifesaving treatment cost over $13,000. As I said, I am so happy I’m now with Healthy Paws. Their customer service is excellent and the turnaround time on paying claims is amazingly fast compared to other insurers I had. I recommend them highly.

Overall good experience
In the beginning I was a bit concerned based on the negative review I've read online about Nationwide Pet Insurance. However my other co-workers who have it had overall positive experience. Since it's the only pet insurance option through my employer, I decided to give it a shot. My 9 yo Bichon/Lhasa mix was peeing blood after his teeth cleaning procedure. I thought it was surgery related issue, and I took him back to the vet. After first diagnostic (caused about 400 something dollars), they told me he had bladder stone. With his type of stone, the only option was to remove it surgically. The cystostomy (bladder stone removal surgery) caused $1,345.49. I filed both claims with Nationwide. They asked for a full medical history to prove that the stone wasn't a pre-existing condition. So I sent them that. Another 3~4 weeks later, I got my reimbursement. Minus the Out of Pocket minimum, I got all of the cost reimbursed including the 1,345.49 bill. Conclusion, the process could be a bit faster, but in the end I'm glad that they covered the procedure. The claim process was easy, too.

pretty good
I have been with Nationwide for almost 6 months. I really was a bit apprehensive as it was one of the most expensive coverage. so far I am really happy with it. it covers more things than any other insurance I know. I had one payment denied but I was offered a chance to provide explanation, and after that it was paid in full. My dog had some cyst problem and he had to go for second opinion, second set of sedation, X-rays and added a biopsy to that. Nationwide paid all of it as per agreement. Payments come pretty fast, I think within a month, so if you put it on a credit card, you have a chance to pay it off almost the same billing cycle.
