My cat suddenly fell ill

My cat suddenly fell ill, and we ended up having to take him to the vet for various tests and treatments. The medical bills came to quite a hefty sum, but thanks to the insurance coverage, the financial burden was significantly reduced. Thank you.

Metlife is quick to deny claims and/or…

Metlife is quick to deny claims and/or misses pertinent information on claims. Example: My pet was taken in to the ER Vet b/c he was crying in pain. He was found to have a neck and shoulder injury, which required xrays, sedation, and medications. an incidental finding was of an ear infection (completely UNRELATED to the reason for the visit. They approved only the pain medication. I had to call in and speak with someone to get the claim reviewed

Insensitive

I have had this insurance for my dog for almost 15 years. My dog was euthanized on April 26, 2026 so I filed a claim. The claim was rejected because my vet did not put my dog's name on the invoice. I called customer service, and the representative was insensitive and unable to get me to someone who could help. Now I have to relive the experience of losing my dog by having to ask my vet for a new invoice. Why would I submit an invoice for euthanasia and cremation for a dog other than my own?

I have spent $6,300 since I started with your dog insurance. I have been reimbursed $58. Does that make any sense to you? I had to have my dog, Sport, neutered because he only dropped one testicle. I was told that often this can lead to cancer. I didn't want my Champion Field Trial dog neutered but the Vet insisted that I was taking a big chance. What, I should wait until he has cancer to get any kind of reimbursement from Trupanion? The dog has an appointment today. Or I would be tempted to to end my insurance immediately. Mark

Not worth having this insurance

I am disappointed with Trupanion’s per-incident deductible structure, as it does not feel cost-effective in many situations. For example, on a claim totaling $1,100 with 90% coverage, having to first meet a $500 deductible significantly reduces the overall benefit of carrying insurance—especially when portions of the invoice are not eligible for reimbursement. Additionally, I was surprised to learn that Trupanion does not cover dental cleanings. Dental care is an essential component of a pet’s overall health, and these procedures are often costly and require anesthesia, making them more than routine preventative care. Given the number of exclusions and limitations in coverage, I am reevaluating whether this policy continues to meet my needs and expectations.

Run from this company.

This time and all the times, you need much time and patience for every single claim, and to make the corrections for the endless mistakes they make. Most frustrating is the “new” system which is numerous years old and has nothing but issues.

Well Worth It

We have two dogs that we rescued as puppies. We've always had PetsBest since we adopted them. Our oldest has allergies and PetsBest has always paid for her flareups and for her immunotherapy. We've been very happy knowing we can make sure our dogs are always getting the care and coverage they need. We will continue to use PetsBest as long as we have doggy children.

Never Disappointed

I have a newly adopted, senior dog and just submitted my first claim for him. It was a scary situation where he had to be seen at an ER vet on a Sunday. He was not doing well at all but thankfully it ended well. It was a little rocky at first with Pets Best to understand the claim and it had to be sent to the Claims department for review. After two phone conversations regarding this with very kind agents and the claims dept review I did get the reimbursement. I have been a Pets Best customer for around 8 years and have never been disappointed in their customer service or my claims being reimbursed.
