Not worth the expense

Nearly all claims submitted over 2+ years were denied outright or when paid the reimbursement was a fraction of what we paid to our veterinarian. Even with partial reimbursement when our dog had pneumonia and our cat had skin lesions we never came close to the amounts we paid for premiums. We would have better better off just paying the vet bills with no insurance rather than paying the premiums.

Extremely easy claim process

I was so worried about having to pay for a large emergency surgical bill up front. I didn't have time to reach out to insurance since my dog was suddenly paralyzed in his back legs. I put the $9k deposit on my credit card to rush my dog to emergency surgery -- I crossed my fingers that insurance would cover it. I've read some horrifying stories about claim delays and rejections so I was a bit anxious. However, I cannot recommend Pets Best enough. They're significantly cheaper than all competitors for the same coverage and approved my claim in just over a week from submission. Not a single line on the invoice (from medications to the operation) was rejected from coverage. Pet insurance is something you buy and hope to never use. Thankfully, I had Pets Best during what was one of the most traumatic experiences for me. I've read too many heartbreaking stories of people having to put their pet down because they couldn't afford care. I'm glad that I wasn't in that position.

Stay away

We signed up for pet insurance a year ago. We got denied our claim the first time we had to use it. You are better off putting money in savings for pet insurance than paying for a corrupt business that chooses what it wants to pay. My dog had NO pre-existing condition. My dog got his first ear infection, and he was denied. Now, we lose money paying monthly pet insurance and a vet bill. Do you think they would offer us a refund? Absolutely not! SCAM SCAM: The best advice I can give is to avoid this company.

Regrets

I'm sorry I left my other pet insurance for Pet's Best. I'm paying a monthly premium and my cat got sick. They haven't paid a dime to me plus they won't reimburse for his medicine.

5+ stars for Healthy Paws

We purchased Healthy Paws when we brought home our puppy 11 1/2 years ago. We have filed many claims as our pup has not been the healthiest. I have NEVER had an issue with HP. It is very easy to file the claim on line, they respond very quickly with a confirmation that they have received the documents, and even for very large claims, the money is auto deposited within a couple of days. Couldn't ask for a better company. The premium has gotten quite expensive and goes up yearly, but we use every bit of the benefit so it is worth it for us.

As a Long-time Policy Holder I Can't Recommend Fetch Anymore

We live in NYC where everything, including vet care, is expensive. So, pet insurance is essential and I have always paid my premiums on time. I've had policies with Fetch (previously known as PetPlan) for going on 20 years, and they have covered 7 different cats during that time. They have never been the cheapest policies, but Fetch had always provided good coverage. The only complaint I've had up till now is it took a long time for them to process claims. All that changed today. To provide some background, two of my three cats are 9-year-old littermates, the female is named Skye and the male is Kato. Kato is generally healthy except for the occasional herpes virus flare up. He's had those since he was a kitten so Fetch has always considered them a pre-existing condition and never covered any of those expenses. Skye suffered a serious illness in 2023 and was diagnosed with small cell intestinal lymphoma. Due to complications during the vet's initial testing and work up, Skye got aspiration pneumonia. She nearly died and had to spend 10 days in the ICU, which was very expensive. Skye recovered from the pneumonia, but unfortunately the lymphoma is terminal and all we can do is give her medication to keep her comfortable and slow the progression. Since her diagnosis in 2023 she has had to see her vet every 6-8 weeks for blood tests because the medications can have serious side effects. Skye incurs regular medical bills, though nowhere near the expenses she incurred in 2023. Both cats had their policies renewed in 2024 with moderate increases in the annual premiums. Today I received my renewal documents for 2025, and I am absolutely floored by what Fetch has done. They designated both Skye AND Kato as high risk policies. Skye's 2025 premium went up by about $75 to $1380 per year, but the deductible quadrupled to $1000 and my co-pay went from 10% to 40%! Kato's 2025 premium increased by $817 to $2200 per year, his deductible doubled to $500 and my co-pay went from 10% to 30%! I had expected Skye's policy costs might increase, but there is no justification for what Fetch has done with Kato's. I called Fetch to get an explanation and see what could be adjusted at least for Kato's policy. Their answer was, "nothing." Take it, or leave it. This is how Fetch treats customers who've had policies with them for decades. Just a big middle finger. Shame on you Fetch!

Pet's Best made my claim easy and gave us peace of mind

My Dog Mack had a foreign body removal from his stomach and small intestine. “It’s our Mack he’ll be fine- this is one expensive peace of mind trip” we had thought taking him to the ER. Our hearts sunk hearing the doctor say “this is a worst case scenario, and becoming increasingly time sensitive.” Of course we immediately allowed him to be triaged into surgery and the scariest 48 hours of my life to follow waiting to hear if he’ll be stable enough to come home. Luckily he survived - as Mack does- and is back to being his goofy self (even while heavily medicated). Just shy of a 10k predicament all said and done. Thanks to pet insurance we will be reimbursed 70% of total cost (a coverage plan that’s customizable and that I selected). I’ve heard everything about having pet insurance “it’s a waste of money” “they won’t cover everything” “what if I never need it and waste all this money” I can promise you that $45 a month (less than a night out) is a lot less noticeable than thousands of dollars staring you in the face. You cover your car not knowing if it’ll ever be in an accident - you cover your house not knowing if it’ll burn down or not - you cover yourself although you could be healthy more than not - why not cover your most precious asset? ❣️ The biggest thank you to @petsbest for giving us some financial peace of mind and helping us care for our boy the way he needed. I will recommend this company for life!

Regretting Choosing Lemonade

I picked them because of the high ratings and price. After submitting two claims with them it has been nothing short of a scam. They conjure up the most ridiculous things to deny a claim and you can’t even speak to a live person to try and voice your opinion or attempt to prove that their information is blatantly false and nefarious. It is a frustrating merry go round of lies. I’ve given up. And now my dog needs to see a specialist and may need surgery and I have no insurance and now he will be considered to have an underlying condition that won’t be covered by a new carrier. I despise this company

Peace of Mind

I have had Pets Best for over 4 years. I never had pet insurance but got it when I got my greyhound. I initially picked Pets Best as they were partnered with Care Credit. She is very healthy and I have thankfully not had any issues with her health which makes me question the expense of pet insurance. However, I adopted a senior greyhound, who was re homed to me. I got a Pets Best policy on her and although it is very expensive due to her age, it has been a godsend. She was attacked and spent several days in the emergency vet to the tune of thousands of dollars. It was such a relief to have Pets Best reimburse the majority of the cost. As a former professional athlete, she benefits from acupuncture and laser therapy, Pets Best covers the majority of those costs. I am able to choose what coverage is right for each dog and when the Pets Best representatives have been very helpful in choosing coverage and giving payment options. Finally, Pets Best is usually very prompt with their explanation of benefits and payments.
