Easy claims process and Trupanion pays according to the stated policy. I've a always had great customer service when needing to speak to a representative.

The claims process
The claims process has been great for the most part; however, it takes weeks to get my reimbursement and Trupanion doesn't cover things that other pet insurers (like Nationwide) do, like the cost of the actual visit or things you consider pre-existing - like allergies. But overall, I've been happy with Trupanion.

I can't afford the lower deductible
Although our vet is experienced in the billing aspect, with 3 dogs my premiums are expensive and I can't afford to lower the deductible. For example our 2 dogs just went to the vet and it was $400. later out of our pocket.

I have been extremely happy
I have been extremely happy with trupanion over the past several years. Unfortunately the monthly payments keep increasing and what it used to cost me to cover 4 dogs now costs me to cover 2 dogs. So that is the only reason the score was not 10.

Better safe than sorry
We purchased pet insurance because our pup was born with congenital cataracts and a surgery was pending at the age of six months. Turns out we ended up using it for something that he ingested. We had to rush him to the pet hospital where he had to be put on an IV immediately and spend the night. A bill close to $1000, we ended up getting a good chunk of that back because of the insurance. I’m so glad we had it. I don’t doubt will use it again because he puts everything in his mouth.

Great turn around and quick reimbursement
Our doodle had an ear infection one week followed by a bout of gastroenteritis. Our vet filed his claims for us and both were approved within a week or so and two checks arrived in the mail within a week of approval. These were expensive vet bills over $400 and $500 making a one year insurance premium on our Sam (labradoodle) so well worth it. We recouped most of our money spent out of pocket. Thank you Nationwide!
