Surprised outcome

Never thought about health insurance for a dog but then I never had a dog before either. My sister told me about it and I did my research and here we are. I think it is great. Not a lot of paperwork to file your claim and you can check your status step by step online. That is great and if you are missing something they let you know quickly so they can close out the claim. I am totally impressed. And the vet clinics give you no hassle when they need to fill out the form. Great insurance

Trupanion truly cares about our baby... They ask about her by name; they respond immediately to submitted claims.

Trupanion is great about giving thorough explanations about why or why not the submitted claims are covered; they respond immediately to a submitted claim; and they show genuine interest in our baby... You can’t get any better than that!!!

Awesome Customer Service

Our six-year old Tibetan Terrier was attacked by coyotes and suffered numerous puncture wounds, scrapes and cuts, particularly around his throat and lower abdomen. One of the vets who stitched him up said that he had never seen an animal with more wounds. The repairs and care were really good but expensive. Embrace promptly reviewed our claim and approved it. The turnaround time was less than two days. Outstanding service that is much appreciated. Thank you!

Thank goodness for Embrace

I have had Embrace Pet Insurance for my boy for the past 6 years. At one point I considered dropping the insurance because I was paying the premium but never used it. Well, let me just say I am so very thankful I didn't. Last year my boy became very sick and Embrace was with us 110%. They quickly provided pre-approval for costly testing, covered his expenses, and stayed in contact with me to see how he was doing. No better pet insurance out there!

Continually Frustrated with Pets Best. Actually cancelled coverage

In the 4+ years that we had Pets Best, we submitted two claims, both of which were denied. The second denial was the most egregious (which we appealed) as the reason for the denial was because they either intentionally or accidentally miscoded what our dog had oral surgery for, claiming that it was not covered. As both the original diagnosis paperwork AND the notes from the day of the surgery indicated that the teeth were extracted because they were cracked, and that all other teeth were in great shape, it was a surprise that the Explanation of Benefits listed "Periodontal Disease" and "teeth cleaning" as the reasons for the surgery. Lo and behold, neither of those are covered. What a surprise. But wait, what's this? If you read the full list of covered items, damaged teeth due to an accident ARE covered. Hmmm. I wonder why they misinterpreted the veterinary notes then? Currently under appeal, but considering that the cost of coverage for each of our three pets went up double digits every year, and that getting a claim covered has proven to be a pain in the ass, we have elected to create our own version of a Health Savings Account for the pets rather than waste money on insurance that is proving to be useless. Thank you for nothing, Pets Best. I encourage others to give serious thought to pet insurance before committing. And to be careful with Pets Best, despite the other "positive" reviews here. Seems unlikely that people have only had good experiences with them, doesn't it? Does ANYONE truly love their insurance? Question it, I say.

Thieves

I've been paying religiously since 2007 and rarely submit a claim. I submitted a claim for my dog that I spent $1900 to test for possible COPD and they did not honor their policy of pay back ANYTHING. They also gave me the lame excuse that if a pet is diagnosed with an illness one year, it wouldn't be covered the following year..so if you gave cancer one year, your sour out of luck the next year.
