Nationwide is on your pet's side....
Poor gal, Maggie Mae has had a ruff couple of months, first her corneal abrasion and then an impacted anal gland. Thanks to the treatment she received at the East Valley Emergency Pet Clinic and then Village Animal Hospital Maggie quickly recovered and is back to her old self. Our pet's are family members, Nationwide pet insurance has been a huge help keeping them healthy and happy... Thanks Nationwide...

Thank You for Understanding What Was Needed!
Recently, my 11-year old dog Gracie had a recurrence of a sneezing episode where she was expelling blood from her nostrils. My vet of more than 20 years recommended three different tests to rule out a potentially disastrous diagnosis of aspergillosis. Although the testing was expensive, you allowed virtually all of it and the happy result was that Gracie's test results were normal. She has been healthy and active since. I have insured all my pets with you and am so glad I have.

Worth it!
I wasn't sure which insurance to go with for my first puppy, Zoe, but I read multiple reviews on multiple companies and decided to go with Healthy Paws - and I am beyond grateful I went with them! Submitting a claim is easy and the reimbursement checks are quicker than I expected. Zoe has had to have XRays, blood tests, etc. and they have all been covered (yay!). Last month Zoe (now a little over 1 year old) was diagnosed with elbow dysplasia and we just had to do the surgery a few weeks ago. I was SO nervous that the expenses weren't going to get covered, but we had to move forward with surgery for our furbaby! Thankfully, they covered the 80% and I am so happy. They even wrote a note to see how Zoe was doing after her big surgery, which was unexpected. I highly recommend getting insurance through this company, even happy healthy pups have accidents!

So Much Better
We have had pet insurance with other companies in the past that constantly denied claims or paid next to nothing against the claim amounts for one reason or another. ASPCA insurance has been great. Claims are paid quickly once they are approved (approval does depend on how quickly your vet provides records). The only thing I would change would be to include the canine influenze shot as part of yearly maintenance and provide a little bit more coverage for heartworm medication (one of our dogs has to have a more expensive brand because of allergies so the coverage really only covers a couple a few doses). Overall, the insuance coverage has been fantastic, customer service is amazing, and all non-covered items have been minimal.

Slow start, but a good outcome
I had a claim for an ACL repair on my young lab male. I ran into an issue with the Claims reviewer wanting "hand written" notes from my vet. My vet sent the file notes 4x and finally I took the printouts of exam notes from my vet's electronic recordkeeping system, circled the exam dates and notes, and resent them. Embrace finally processed my claim. My March claim was paid in May.

Did not pay claim as we felt it should
Re: Claim # 201805314129 Quite honestly, we have been very frustrated with dealing with claim# 201805314129 in the amount of $573.50. Our dog, Star, was very ill for almost 2 weeks. We took her to our regular Vet once we realized her cough, nasal congestion, loss of appetite, lethargy and diarrhea were not improving despite our best efforts. We do not run to the Vet the second an illness appears. We give it a chance to resolve itself. We were prescribed antibiotics and cough medicine by our Vet. After days, Stars symptoms got worse. It was a weekend and we found ourselves at the Blue Pearl as an emergency. Star was having difficulty breathing and her eyes were droopy, had a fever and eye discharge along with all of the other symptoms listed above. The ER Vets were concerned with her presentation and suggested that they give her Sub-Q I.V. We did that and they also wanted to run a whole array of tests. At this point, we didn't have a lot of money to spend. This is dog #2 in our home with the same symptoms. We had at this point spend nearly $1200 in a week and a half between our dogs on vet bills. We asked the Vet to tell us which tests were most vital for the health of Star. They told us what we needed to do to rule out some serious illnesses based on presentation. We did what the Vet at Blue Pearl said. This illness lasted 2 weeks. Star took almost 4 weeks to bounce back from this illness. We sent in all paperwork given to us by Blue Pearl. Nationwide diagnosed Star as having Laryingitis because the paperwork only provided symptoms and treatment. As a result, only reimbursed us $81.33. Absolutely not what was going on. Star did not just have Laryingitis. I contacted Blue Pearl to ask for their help. They forwarded everything they have to Nationwide regarding this illness. They told me on the phone that this was not a correct diagnosis given by Nationwide. Blue Pearl also said not everything is gven a diagnosis. Blue Pearl was so concerned that they suggested we hospitalize Star if she didn't improve by the next day. I really need this claim to be paid or we will have to find another insurance company. This was a very sick dog!! We minimalized our bills as much as possible. We only did what the Vet said we had to based on what was going on. As of now, I am waiting to hear Nationwide respond to the additional paperwork Blue Pearl sent. Deborah Frankel debfox123@verizon.net
