My dog had a rare parasite/fluke (Nanophyetus salmincola) - apparently associated with salmon poisoning (no idea how he got this but possibly being out in a lake). The vet put my pup on medication that was quite expensive to treat this life threatening condition. Pet's best denied my claim (and subsequent appeals) since the medication is not on their 'formulary list'. There was no alternative medications available and my vet provided a letter stating why my dog needed this medicine that cost several hundred dollars. Read the fine print - Pets best will find a way to not pay your claim if you incur an expensive vet pill. Please do not support this company that clearly cares more about the bottom line than providing care for your pet.

My puppy is only four months old and had a bit of s rough start finding round worm and Coccidia in her stool sample plus a UTI. I am so thankful we have Nationwide Pet Insurance to help defer the costs for Willow’s medical expenses plus well visits!

I recommended you to a family member this week and she enrolled 5 of her dogs to your insurance You're there when we need you. During an Emergency you approve coverage right away. You speak to one person thats manages your acoount not a million ones each time you call. Phone calls are aways returned immediately.

Fast turn around
Like any insurance its a gamble - up until this month I have been paying $46/mo. for the past 8 years and only just put my first claim in. I would recommend this insurance to people who could not afford a big sudden expense. However, if Trupanion is in a financial situation where you could handle an unexpected pet expense, I would not recommend it because at the end of the day Trupanion is likely going to be paying more than what the bills would have been. That being said, I was impressed at the fast turnaround time for my claim.
