thank god for pets plus us!
We insured our 8 week old standard poodle puppy, and thank goodness we did! Leopold was diagnosed with atopic dermatitis at a very young age, and anyone who has a dog with allergies know how difficult it can be to get those allergies under control! Having insurance on Leopold has allowed me to always provide the best possible care for him, I never hesitate to get him the care he requires, he is on the best possible medication and that is 80% covered, sometimes he requires a combination of medications when he has a flair up. He also see a specialist, a dermatologist, who has deemed him the most highly allergic dog he treats! Having all these resources at hand has allowed me to give Leopold a wonderful, full, and mostly healthy life!

Great Company
I work with a lot of pet insurance companies through work and decided on Pets Plus Us. They have had great service, very reliable. I've never had a claim that I thought was wrongly denied. I find their prices reasonable compared to other companies. I like that they pay for exam fees, and rehab. I also love their underwriting service where they will tell you exactly what is pre-existing and not covered based on your pet's medical history. And if the coverage isn't to your liking, you can easily cancel before you even get charged. Customer service has always been great.

I can't decide if it is worth it. My premiums keep going up and they are about to go up about $30/mo. I'm waiting to see if anything this year has been covered. Then I will decide. Tim was no help on the phone. he was polite, but could not answer my questions about if my bills would be covered.

Exam Fee Coverage
As you can see from my files, I just lost my one cat due to bladder problems, and now that her sister has the same problem, it very much upsets me that each time I have to take her in for an emergency type exam to see what's happening, I have to pay the $85.00 exam charge, each and every time, which has been twice already in the past couple of weeks, just for the surviving sister alone. I totally understand that exams are not covered for yearly checkups, needles, or for any non-threatening reason, but when your pet has to be rushed in for something you already have noted on her file that she suffers from, it doesn't seem fair to the pet owner, to pay out-of-pocket for this exam charge EACH AND EVERYTIME, which in my case could be a weekly occurrence. I purchased the most amount of insurance I could in order to have what I thought, would cover anything that comes along; ESPECIALLY EMERGENCIES FOR DIAGNOSED CONDITIONS. I'm on an old-age pension that doesn't go far, and this frequent additional $ 85.00 exam charge that can unexpectedly pop up anytime with her, will mean some staple I will have to go without. I don't think this is fair; especially when I adopted these two as kittens, saving them from being put to sleep due to the over population of cats. Rescued animals, or animals living with life-threatening conditions SHOULD BE COVERED.
