Great Coverage - Slow Processing
I love the coverage that Nationwide Pet Insurance provides. We originally had VPI then stayed with it when it became Nationwide. We have no complaints on the amount of money that is paid to us when a claim is filed and we have met the deductible. I do with wish claims were processed in a more timely manner as on average it takes 4 weeks. I also wish they had various deductibles that you could chose from instead of the $250 deductible. Other than those two issues, we are very happy with our Nationwide Pet Insurance. I have in the past contacted customer service and they were great resolving my issue. Yes, I am a "real" Nationwide customer.

Great coverage
Nationwide has wonderful coverage for all the issues I have had with my 3 cats. I usually get back 80% of what I paid to vet it even more. The only thing not covered is expensive medication for Hoku that costs over $40/month. I was told there is a yearly limit of $30/ year as it’s an anti anxiety drug and even though I thought I had gotten coverage for “ behavioral issues” when I increased my coverage this year I was told it isn’t covered. This is the only problem I have with this great insurance.

Cancer Claim
Wish that more of claim was paid. With initial diagnosis and tests, biopsy, and cancer surgery - there should have been a way to claim more on insurance. We paid majority of the overall costs. (over $4000 out of pocket). Maybe it is the way that it was written by doctor or maybe it just is overall per year. Not sure.

The claims process
The claims process has been great for the most part; however, it takes weeks to get my reimbursement and Trupanion doesn't cover things that other pet insurers (like Nationwide) do, like the cost of the actual visit or things you consider pre-existing - like allergies. But overall, I've been happy with Trupanion.

I can't afford the lower deductible
Although our vet is experienced in the billing aspect, with 3 dogs my premiums are expensive and I can't afford to lower the deductible. For example our 2 dogs just went to the vet and it was $400. later out of our pocket.

I have been extremely happy
I have been extremely happy with trupanion over the past several years. Unfortunately the monthly payments keep increasing and what it used to cost me to cover 4 dogs now costs me to cover 2 dogs. So that is the only reason the score was not 10.
