Stress Free Vet Payment

I am always so proud to tell people about what a lifesaver Trupanion has been for my cat Joey. We do not have insurance because we have a lot of money. We have insurance because we don't and Trupanion ensures that I never have to make the decision.

Preexisting condition policies are weird

When our pups were young, their first vet claimed that they had 'bad teeth' and noted so on their exam sheet. We changed their diet from the one the adoption agency gave and their teeth are now white, their gums clean and there are just a few stains but no tartar on a few teeth. We had different vets tell us again and again that their teeth a amazingly clean (we don't brush their teeth). To get the preexisting condition removed, we had our dogs' teeth cleaned once by a vet but, we learned later that they'd have needed to be anesthetized during this procedure for removal of this 'existing condition' - something we don't want to do since there is no medical need for it. Hence, the stain of 'bad teeth' remains on the 'preexisting conditions' list which is weird. A similar 'preexisting condition' was deferred from a vet visit with our young pups after a bee sting to which our animal was allergic to. And after we mentioned that both pups had issues with itching probably to flea bites. Interesting to remark is that a noted side effects of many vaccinations are skin conditions like itching. Nevertheless, 'unspecific dermatitis' (or something similar) is on both of our dogs' records for preexisting conditions. I find it interesting that these exemptions are put in place despite the temporary once time report of a veterinarian. It is SO health-insuranc-y and leaves a little bitter taste on the insurer. Maybe you should rethink your policies. Considering that you actually may lose money by deterring new customers from signing up as well as existing customers to seek veterinary help at all. After all, in our case we seem to fare pretty well on placing our confidence on prevention instead of unnecessary medical care. I hope some of this makes sense to you and will help you and other pet owners in some way.
