Should you purchase pet insurance?

Quick to respond. But insurance never covers costs of the appointment (which is always an expensive part of the invoice) and once they remove the deductible and then the 90% they cover, we typically get back less than 50% of what our billing costs were. Unsure whether insurance coverage is worth the monthly costs depending on individual pets health needs....

Healthy Paws was totally there for us!

Our totally healthy 1-year-old golden retriever, Charlie, dislocated his hip while running in the woods behind our house. We were with him, and we saw him leap into the air and just tumble to the ground in pain. We have had many dogs, but we never saw anything like this. It was just bad luck. He required extensive surgery to repair his hip. Thankfully, we had chose Healthy Paws as our insurance, based on customer reviews. They covered exactly what they advertised, and we were reimbursed in just a couple of weeks. The whole process was smooth and pleasant. We felt totally supported by Healthy Paws. Charlie has now made a full recovery, and we are hoping for many, many years of excellent health. If anything should happen, we know Healthy Paws is there. Thank you Healthy Paws! Still deciding whether to stick with them or not

I made a claim for an ear infection my cat had. It was my first claim and I just wanted the $30 applied to my deductible. I figured it would be really simple. The claim took FOREVER to process. It has me nervous for when I need reimbursed for a serious expense. Literally over 40 days to process. My friend works for Trupanion and they require claims to be processed in 1-2 days. It’s astounding to me the difference. Trupanion is more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for... Anyways the needed records from an old vet. When I provided the vets info they requested the records and sent me an email explaining if they didn’t get the records in 3 days they’d contact me for help getting them. 5 or so days pass, boom email saying my claim is denied because they didn’t get records. I called and got the RUDEST customer rep. She said it’s because I never called back to provide them with the missing records. No one told me the vet didn’t send it! She kept repeating the same line and told me basically too bad the claim is closed. I called the vet and they emailed records the day it was requested. They even forwarded me their original email. I called back and got a much nicer rep who explained the claims auto close after 40 days. She pulled up the records in seconds and said they never got uploaded. She reopened the claim and by the next week the money was processed towards my deductible. Would that have happened if I got the rude woman again? I got pet insurance after spending $10,000 on my dog who died last year from a terrible autoimmune disease. I can’t imagine if I was trying to be reimbursed for one of the regular $2k emergency vet fees. 40 plus days and all that stress and hassle?? I’m already asking friends who they use to see about switching. They need to make sure all their customer reps are like the second woman I spoke to.
