Experience.
Experience. I am involved in my 10th rescue dog to date. 3 are Greyhounds. I have two presently insured with Trupanion. This year I experienced a dog attack on my Greyhound Rose. My previous two have also been attacked in the past. I made a comparison table of 5 star dog insurance companies based on the ownership of my two Greyhounds, on the assumption the average veterinary cost would be $5,000 for each, per incident. I have learnt to insure for the worst, not the best. Like for a motor vehicle. Looking for cheap insurance is foolhardy. Because there is no cheap veterinary care for dogs. A dog owner needs to be able to afford for minor incidents. But needs to be insured for major incidents. Dogs are like motor cars. These days $700 (my excess for each) would not repair a scratch. So insure for the worst. Trupanion is a well worked model to deliver for this.

It was easy to submit the invoice.
It was easy to submit the invoice. All I had to do was attach pictures of my dog’s medical bills to your form. Within minutes of my submitting the invoice, I received a confirmation letter from Japan and letting me know that they were taking it on from there. I have done this in the past, and they repaid as much of the bill as possible in the shortest amount of time.

I received the following email after fifteen business days from my original claim. They are now telling me it will be a MINIMUM OF 30 BUSINESS DAYS BEFORE THEY ANSWER MY CLAIM. THEY ARE THE WORST. Hello Lila, We have received medical records for Harry and they are in line for review. Harry's medical records could be reviewed for several reasons, including: You've requested a medical history review You've submitted your first accident or illness claim Harry has a claim pending medical history for a specific date of service We are updating a temporary pre-existing condition on Harry's policy Once the medical records are reviewed, pending claims can be processed and medical history reviews can be completed. This process can take up to 30 business days once we've collected all necessary medical records, and it is likely you will not receive any updates during this time. Please note that if our team finds that we are missing medical history or the records we receive are summary/vaccine records only, this will delay the review and/or claim. Please be sure to let us know which practice(s) Harry has visited in the 12 months before you purchased your policy. Medical records can be emailed to claims@embracepetinsurance.com, submitted via your MyEmbrace customer account, or faxed to (800) 238-1042. Feel free to contact us if our requested time frame has been exceeded. Until I see if my claims are paid it's hard to know if my expectations are being met and if I would recommend Trupanion.
Until I see if my claims are paid, it's hard to know if my expectations are being met and if I would recommend Trupanion. It is taking longer than expected to process my claims, so that is one thing I would tell anyone considering Trupanion. When I signed up, I thought it would be a much faster process.

Because it's very assuring to know that you will have my puppers backs if the need arises.
Because it's very assuring to know that you will have my puppers backs if the need arises. It's just sometimes a bit frustrating to have to figure out which deductible is paid for what ailment. And having to start the full deductible again for something new. But all in all I'm glad to have the coverage.
