Heartless and thoughtless

I explained my situation and was given correct information. However - very important - tell your people NOT to wish someone a wonderful day when the client has just informed them that their pet just died the previous day. Completely heartless and unthinking. I told her so. Some words of sympathy and condolence would have been appropriate, not a cheery “enjoy the rest of your day”. is she a robot or a human being with a heart?

Great overall

I haven't used other pet insurances so I can't say that this is the best overall.. But I can tell you that filing a claim was exceedingly easy. I had a question and spoke to customer service and they were amazing and even fun to work with. When I received my claim information back I understood why something was covered and why other things weren't. I wanted a certain medication to be covered however I knew it wasn't beforehand as the medication list was easily available. So far, so good, though I do have a few more things pending. Hopefully we keep on this trend.

The Claims Process is a Nightmare

I chose to add the wellness plan and that was a mistake. They instantly denied anything wellness. After filing twice, calling twice and them admitting it should have been paid twice, I was as told I had to file an appeal that can take 60 days. When I asked why I should be doing so much work just to get what I paid for they said it’s just the way the system works. I cancelled the plan and filed the appeal. I got the claim several weeks later. I’m glad I switched before I really needed the support. The last thing I need is dealing with this nonsense when my dog’s actually sick.

Pets Best is actually the best

I now have all of my pets covered through Pets Best. The online filing system is incredibly easy & user friendly. If they are experiencing high demand, they communicate delays via email. Once a claim is approved, payment is typically deposited into my account within a week. My German Shepherd went through emergency surgery and 18 months of chemotherapy & Pets Best always came through with reimbursement without increasing his coverage amount by an insane amount. And let me tell you, we easily had at least $20k in vet expenses. When he passed, I filed a claim for euthanasia. Not only did they cover that expense, they sent an email apologizing for our loss and auto-closed his policy and even reimbursed us for the coverage we had pre-paid for. I am so thankful for their layer of support & will continue to recommend them for coverage!

Monthly Cost

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Coverage

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible. Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states). Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care. 24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill. Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method. Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.

Payout Limits

$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan. Unlimited lifetime limits.

Deductible

$50 – $1,000 annually.

Age Limits

Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll. Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.

Waiting Period

A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
