How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Royal York Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We took our 9 week old puppy Pepper to Royal York Animal Hospital for a general check up and first vaccination. The staff was very warm, pleasant and welcoming to us and our initially nervous puppy. The veterinarian (Dr. Allen) was friendly, knowledgeable and answered all our questions and concerns. Pepper didn’t even notice when Dr. Allen vaccinated her. We will definitely be coming back!

Every single time the team here is so patient and understanding. Not only that, but the vet is very open about how much everything will cost, and actively suggests the most affordable options. I feel like my cats are always in really good, caring hands here.

Dr Chris is the reason I changed to this vet. She is extremely knowledgeable and truly has the pets wellbeing at top of mind. She is great to bounce ideas off of and she is always trying to find option for me with patches! The outstanding assistance Gabriela and Kim Karina is the only groomer that can handle patches and he doesn’t look stupid after his cut! The very pleasant and calming lady at the front desk who can put your mind and ease with her voice! I can tell you all how much you have warmed my heart and put my mind at rest when I come with patches:) We don’t always take time to thank and appreciate people for a job well done so I wanted to ensure they get the recognition they deserve.
