How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Louisville Veterinary Urgent Care
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

The doctor was absolutely wonderful and kind. Dakota is great as well. I made an appointment for my male cat because he was having sudden urinary frequency issues. They have an appointment option which is really nice so you can plan your visit around your schedule. I arrived at 9:00 am so there was no waiting, he was seen right away. I was given the cost estimate based on what might be needed in advance. Vet care is never cheap, so I was not shocked by the cost. Considering the need for proper care quickly and not needing an emergency clinic and not being able to see our regular vet for several days I felt it was worth it. My boy was lucky, he didn't have any serious issues. He got an ultrasound, an antibiotic shot and an anti inflammatory shot and I got the peace of mind of knowing he doesn't have stones in his bladder or a potentially life threatening blockage. We are both better for our visit. This clinic was recommended by my vet and I think they were absolutely right. I would use them again if we need urgent care for our pets.

My puppy, who had not yet received all of her vaccinations, became very sick and I was advised to bring her here. I was on the verge of a breakdown when I arrived, but the staff were incredibly kind and quickly figured out what was wrong so they could begin treatment. They explained everything thoroughly and provided estimates before doing anything, which I really appreciated. It's now the next day, and my puppy is doing so much better. Their facility was also exceptionally clean, and I noticed staff constantly sanitizing and keeping everything spotless. I’m so grateful for the care they provided and would highly recommend them.

My little guinea pig woke up one morning in considerable pain. I was immediately stressed out and my mom took me and my sister to Louisville Veterinary Urgent Care, as our regular animal hospital was closed on Sundays. We were immediately received with warm welcomes when we came through the doors and showed to a treatment room. Within 10 minutes, Dr. Pelfrey came in and gave Rascal (my guinea pig) an examination and x-ray. He is clearly very experienced and compassionate. We found out he had a bladder stone and scheduled a cystotomy with Dr. Pelfrey the following day. The surgery and recovery process was incredible and speedy. Follow up appointment was just as quick and compassionate. Highly recommend 🙌!!!

I always take mi dog to this clinic. The atmosphere is always warm, welcoming, and professional. From the moment you walk in, everyone makes you feel comfortable and cared for. Ara and the entire team are kind, compassionate, and genuinely concerned about the well-being of every pet. They take the time to listen, answer questions, and provide excellent care. The staff is efficient, the wait times are short, and the overall experience is always positive. I truly appreciate the friendly and caring environment they create for both pets and their owners. Highly recommended!

The team here is amazing. Locally owned which is a massive plus. They got my kitty Summer checked in, evaluated, and taken care of in what seems like record time but it was not rushed. Just efficient teamwork indicative of a solid team is what it felt like. Everyone we interacted was so kind, patient, happy to answer questions, explained and showed me how to administer certain meds, and was just awesome. If my animals need urgent care level vet attention, and it's a day their normal vet is closed, this is where I will bring them. Shout-out to the whole team! Thanks for all you do!
