If your animals are not docile in nature, I unfortunately cannot recommend this vet and will not use them for anything ever again after 4+ years of service. We have a Belgian Malinois dog and an American shorthair cat. Shadow the Mal is very well trained, but still barks or gator chomps on occasion — like any Mal… we were required to give her trazodone any time we brought her in for any service, even though this medication makes her jumpy/paranoid and therefore worse behaved IMO. I expressed to them on multiple occasions that the medication made her uneasy, but they said it would still be required for her to come in. Scout the cat is an outdoor cat and a grumpy old man. He is feisty and very difficult to examine, requiring our vets when we lived in other cities to use falcon gloves when handling him. For this reason, we have always given him gabapentin prior to a vet visit since he was a kitten. AMC required we give him gabapentin for 2 days prior and both gabapentin and trazodone the day of a visit, then still required to fully sedate him for any visit. On one occasion, after leaving him in their care for over an hour where they put him in essentially a laughing gas filled room, they called to inform me they were unable to sedate him and that I would have to come pick him up and reschedule to try again another day. On another occasion, before they would refill his routine flea medicine they required we bring him in for an exam. On Friday March 13, we took Scout in and he was fully sedated for an exam. There was no mention of anything abnormal after the visit. On Saturday March 14, we noticed a large and painful knot on his back hip area but did not know what it was. Frustrating to say the least since the day before he was examined… On Friday March 20, the abscess ruptured (last photo). We immediately gave him trazodone/gabapentin and called at noon (they close at 6p) to schedule to bring him in for care. Animal Medical Center refused to see him due to requiring he be sedated every visit and told us to go to an urgent care vet instead. (VSP Urgent Care was wonderful, cannot recommend enough — went in at 3p, picked him up after being sedated for a wound cleaning and antibiotics shot at 5:30p) While I understand that AMC has a “fear free” policy, not every animal is going to lay on the table silently for a vet visit. Their unwillingness to even try to see Scout with an active issue after clearly not performing an adequate exam on a fully sedated animal one week prior and lack of concern for his well-being was the final straw. This review is not meant to bash the establishment but to advise other pawrents of strong-willed animals to find a different vet. It is very upsetting to trust your furry family members to a facility that does not share a level of care and concern.

Dr.Blake took a great amount of time with our dog & us. Gabe is not a friendly dog & hard to deal with. Dr. Blake was wonderful. Gabe feels very bad. He is usually sedated when he sees the vet. Wasn't sedated due to his health issue. I was extremely impressed that Dr.B could do anything with him.

Our English Bulldog and French Bulldog get the best care here! Took a chance when we moved here 4 years ago and it was the best decision! Dr. Hoffmeister and staff are wonderful with our pups. Very caring and compassionate. 10/10 would recommend!

Dr. Blake is the best vet in town! My cat Delilah is always super anxious going to the vet and hes the first one that she loves. He helped my lab Marley finally figure out her diarrhea issues too! Super caring and I'm super grateful to have him as my vet. Tommy his assistant rocks! Thank you both.
