How to Save on Veterinary Costs at East Louisville Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We absolutely love ELAH! Our vet is Dr Gary Edlin and we have enjoyed having him help our cats through many years. We’ve seen other vets and assistants in the office and the entire care team is super! Wouldn’t think of having another care team for my baby Forrest

Staff and vet team have been so amazing every time I come in. I’ve brought them my fosters in an emergency and my personal pets for their regular care and emergencies and they are always amazing with my babies. I recommend them all over the place and some of the pets that I’ve fostered and adopted out, still go there to this day. I love it. Recently my pup passed away and they were amazing. When I got my new puppy they called me to confirm my appt and when I asked them if I could change it, not only did they but they were so excited to meet my new friend too. I’m a big fan.

I have been a happy patron for 15 years until today. Still grieving my Havanese who passed in January, I wanted to purchase a non prescription bag of lean treats for my neighboring dogs. I was told I couldn’t because I no longer have an active account. Really? I bet I’ve spent $20,000 over the yrs and 3 months later, they won’t sell to me? Feeling a little insulted and dismissed..

Angel went out of her way to help me with an issue I created by my own procrastination! ELAH has always treated my pets and I would wholeheartedly recommend them. Five stars!!

We have a 5 year old English Bulldog and over the course of 6-9 months he had severe diarrhea, stomach bloating and stopped eating. We took him to East Louisville multiple times after the issues began and every time blood work was done and tweaks were made to his diet but nothing changed and no diagnosis was ever given. The picture below where he is on the couch is him prior to all issues. The picture where you can see his ribs is him at his worst. We truly thought he was going to die and never got any answers from East Louisville about what his condition was. After a few thousand dollars we decided to take him to another vet. The first visit to the new vet he knew exactly what was going on (it's called lymphangiectasia, and apparently common in bulldogs) and prescribed a $20 steroid that immediately solved the issue. The picture of him holding a stick is him today after gaining back most of his weight. The staff are great and everyone is super nice but I would never recommend this vet to anyone after the experience we had. Update: For reference our dog's name is Oberyn (Obie) and the name on the account is Gibson.
