Insurance Becomes Unaffordable When You Need It Most
I have been a loyal customer for 12 years, paying my premiums every year without interruption. Now that my dog is a senior and needs insurance the most, the premium has become so high that keeping the policy is no longer affordable.
Charging over $5,000 a year for a 12-year-old dog, while still limiting annual coverage to $10,000 and requiring a deductible and co-pay, feels unreasonable. Long-term customers should not be priced out of the coverage they've faithfully paid for over many years.
I expected loyalty to matter. Instead, I feel penalized for having kept my pet insured for so long. This has been a very disappointing experience.

My policies increased by 57%
The customer rep was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.
However, I am very unhappy with the fact that my premiums increased 57%. As a result I have had to reduce my coverage.
If this happens again next year I will be changing my insurance company.

Coverage Problems
I purchased Fetch Pet Insurance in April to protect my dog in case of an unexpected medical emergency. Before enrolling, my dog had no symptoms or diagnosis of any spinal or neurological condition.
When she suddenly developed neurological symptoms, an MRI confirmed a spinal cord compression caused by an intervertebral disc herniation. A board-certified veterinary neurologist submitted a detailed letter explaining that this is a primary neurological disease, not an orthopedic condition, and requested that Fetch reconsider the claim.
Despite the specialist’s medical opinion, Fetch denied coverage by classifying the condition as orthopedic under the waiting period. It is incredibly frustrating to pay for insurance, do everything responsibly, obtain a specialist’s opinion, and still be denied when your pet needs life-changing surgery.
Pet insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind during emergencies. Instead, we were left facing thousands of dollars in unexpected veterinary costs while our dog needed urgent treatment. I strongly encourage anyone considering Fetch to carefully read the policy and ask very specific questions about how they classify IVDD, disc herniations, and neurological conditions before purchasing coverage.
This has been an extremely disappointing experience, and I cannot recommend this company based on how our claim was handled.

Affordable at first, unaffordable when in matters…
I insured my dog with Fetch in 2018 and stayed loyal for years. I barely made any claims.
After my dog was diagnosed with heart murmur and tracheal collapse, my premium almost doubled. I accepted it because he's family.
Now they've increased it again to $344/month. That's over $4,200/year for a policy with only $5,000 annual coverage, 80% reimbursement, and a $500 deductible.
I contacted customer service hoping they could offer any solution, but they couldn't help at all.
Pet insurance should be there when your pet gets sick—not become so expensive that you can no longer afford it. If you're considering Fetch, think about what could happen once your pet develops a chronic condition.
