How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

5/5 Stars — Outstanding, life-saving care for our boy Comet. We recently had a terrifying experience when our cat, Comet (black one in photos), developed aspiration pneumonia the day after undergoing anesthesia. Thankfully, my wife and I caught it early, and we rushed him to BluePearl. From the moment we walked in, every single staff member was incredibly friendly, compassionate, and attentive—not just to Comet, but to us as well during a very stressful time. We brought all of his previous documents, files, X-rays, and medical history with us, and the veterinary team thoroughly reviewed everything so we knew exactly what we were facing. Comet had to be placed in an oxygen chamber for two days, alongside constant monitoring, IV fluids, and antibiotics. The communication from the vets and vet techs was phenomenal. They called regularly with updates, which gave us so much peace of mind. They were even accommodating when I swung by at 4:00 AM after getting off work just to check in on him in person. Yes, the total cost was several thousand dollars, but to my wife and me, price didn't matter—we instructed them to do whatever was necessary to bring our boy home. Today, little Comet is completely back to his normal self, running around the house with his brothers as if nothing ever happened. We truly cannot thank the incredible crew at BluePearl enough for saving his life!

They are worth every $ spent! Being 24/7 available, the care and transparency , the constant check in post surgery is everything we hoped for! They saved our sweet Riley's life and still check in constantly how she has been doing and making sure we, as dog parents, are doing ok! Dr. Turner was the absolute best! So grateful for her! I can't recommend them enough! This is the best pet care we have ever received and are so thankful they saved our dog! ❤️

We visited Blue Pearl recently with my dog Pumpkin and we were very happy with the care he received over the 3 days he was there. We were allowed to visit with him in the back and he was brought out to us in a room so we were able to see him and spend time with him. We live 2.5 hours away so we came home at night to care for our other dogs but we called to check on him at night. When we called, anyone that answered the phone knew exactly who he was and that was comforting to us. He was given a stuffed toy during his stay there and he’s still carrying it a week later.

In the midst of our scary event with our pup, the staff here was wonderful and stabilized him quickly. Very good with giving us information and education on the situation and very kind. The only thing was they didn’t have anesthesia so we had to pay one vet to stabilize then we had to transport him, to another hospital. Not a big deal, just wish they could have done everything there. All in all everything was great and dr. Madison was wonderful.

I had a very positive experience with BluePearl Pet Hospital. I spoke with Tyanna after my dog ate way too many ThunderWunders, and she was extremely helpful and professional. She took the time to consult with the veterinarian while I waited on the phone and then directed me to Pet Poison Control for further guidance. Poison Control advised me to monitor my dog closely, and thankfully, that was all that was needed. I really appreciated Tyanna taking the time to listen, check with the vet, and point me in the right direction. I live about an hour away, but if I ever need emergency pet care, I will definitely reach out to BluePearl. Thanks again, Tyanna, for your professionalism, kindness, and help!
