Total scam

Total scam. MetLife adjuster denied claim saying that my dog's lacerated paw was an ILLNESS not an INJURY.

RUN! DO NOT BUY!

RUN! DO NOT BUY this pet insurance if you want to be reimbursed for dental cleanings. If your pet has tartar or plaque on their teeth at their cleanings and it happens several times (3 annual cleanings for us), MetLife will say that your pet has a “preexisting condition” (because of the 3 year history) and deny the claim. It’s a new procedure that they’ve implemented this year and it’s insane that they are getting away with it. Imagine buying a policy that covers teeth cleaning and MetLife states that they’re not going to reimburse your claim because your pet has a history of his teeth being dirty at his cleaning appointments! That’s completely insane! In what world does that even make sense? I purchased a policy 4 years ago (no lapses) that included preventative care (teeth cleaning, immunizations, etc.) and this has been my nightmare experience this year. Our veterinarian even wrote a 2 page letter explaining that this year’s procedure was just like previous years that WERE REIMBURSED by MetLife and they still won’t pay! I would also like to mention that as a result of this “bait and switch”, our family is out $1600 (cleanings for 2 dogs) that we thought would be coming back to our household. Finally, I would like to say that I chose MetLife because we also had their dental insurance for our family and thought them to be a reputable company. Sadly, that is no longer true. Do yourself a favor - check out Embrace insurance. Our vet office says they are wonderful to work with and would never do this to their customers. P.S. I hope MetLife does not respond to this post with their canned reply of “all that I need to do is email them”. That is B.S. and I’ve done it already. I’ve called them on the phone too. Spoken with multiple adjusters and employees in management. They told me that their determination is final and no one will reverse it. Do better, MetLife. Your company should be ashamed.
