How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Capitol Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

My animals have been cared for by Steve for 36 years. My momma took Tyee - my kitty was hit by a car - and he rebuilt his shoulder. My mom had NO $, and she knew THAT CAT WAS ALL I HAD. When we left, she said, "It's all taken care of." Picked him up a few days later. I'm not sure what went down that night between Steve and my mom, but I KNEW he was the one who would care for all my fur babies! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST AROUND!

Cathy and Dr Steve are amazing. I will never forget the care we received at their hands. My girl is a bit of a whack rescue and they treated her with love and authority so she responded great!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart:) Ali and Allie

We have had Dr Swart and staff care for all of our pets' needs for over 35 years! Love their extraordinary compassion for animals, as witnessed by the irresistible menagerie of pets owned by the clinic who are always ready to greet you. Cat sprawling on the counter, dogs wagging their tails in welcome! Dr Swart is amazing. He doesn't rush to scans and bloodwork and tests. I really appreciate that.

Doc Steve is the best veterinary in Oregon. Have known him for 35 years and have taken every pet to his office. Never had a bad experience.

Dr. Swart is the best! I call him the animal whisperer. His clinic is dated but welcoming. There are several dogs and cats who call it home, and you may see a cat snoozing in the waiting area, or a dog coming to the front desk to greet you. He is professional and caring and doesn't overcharge or recommend unnecessary treatments. I appreciate Dr. Swart and his staff so much.
