How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Banfield Pet Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I love the service Banfield provides. They’re always so responsive on the phone, in person, and through the pet chat. The staff there is incredibly nice and take wonderful care of all 3 of my dogs. From spays, to neuters, sick visits, and routine wellness, I can’t say I’ve had any complaints. I’ve had no issues getting an appointment when I need it and the wellness plans have made my life a breeze.

If I could rate my experience a 0 star. I would. I have been to many banfield locations, they were all great, the doctors were great. Unfortunately my experience here was absolutely terrible. I scheduled my dog for his regular comprehensive exam and dental cleaning I have the OWP plan. After waiting over 30 minutes in the wait room for them to just come and bring my dog to check him in. I left and continued with my day. After a couple of hours I received a call that my dogs’ liver enzymes were extremely high and of course he couldn’t get the dental work. I questioned what could be wrong why his liver enzymes would be high. I was told many different things could be the cause, not anything simple either. Things that would worry any dog owner when you get a call like that. I was advised they can do labs, and of course I had to pay extra, over $100 for labs and was advised that they would give me a call to go over the results of those labs. My dog has gotten many comprehensive exams over the years and this was probably the worse. No one explained the location on his body where he got his vaccines or anything. For the first time my dog has been getting his vaccines, this was the worst. He was lethargic, in pain, and literally would not move for hours, throwing up. Nonetheless I kept my eye on him and called banfield then and only then did they tell me where he got his shots. I advised he threw up. Doctor said its normal keep and eye pn him. Typically all the other banfield locatoons will call me to check on how he is doing. They didn’t even do that. Now for the labs, no call all week. I decided to call to check in to get an update. I was told that the labs came back. The woman at the front desk sounded like she had no clue what she was talking about so I asked to speak with the vet. She goes back and then comes back after a while advising the doctor will call me back in the afternoon. No call all day. I decided to call at 5pm before they closed at 6pm. When I called at 5pm I was put on hold for 20 minutes and then they sent me to voicemail. I called back and spoke with kayla who advised the doctor would call me back before they closed at this point its 5:45pm so I said asked when i when i would receive a call back since it’s almost 6pm. She puts me on another hold to go find out from the doctor. Apparently she cannot speak to me. I am frustrated at this point not only you do not keep your word but you are also wasting my time. She then put me on hold to escalate the situation again and after another 20 minutes on hold. I get sent to voicemail. Lets be real it takes a few minutes to read the results of labs and give an explanation. If you took labs the same day of high liver enzymes I can’t fathom there not being labs results indicating why they were high. Did they magically just go back to normal. If it were a child, your child, your dog. You would want answers as to what was going on. It was disrespectful for no one to have the curtesy to pick up the phone and just send me to voicemail. I called and was kind UNTIL no one could help. I recommend NO ONE go to this banfield, there are so much better locations. They need new managements and new workers.

I have always had such a great experience at Banfield! Consistently have exceptional customer service, and the care the team provides is wonderful! I can easily say that I have not had any negative experiences. I will continue to bring my pets there. We have gone in for a routine visits, sick visits, a spay, and a neuter. Every visit has been just as good as the last. I’m very happy with Banfield and their wellness plans are a life saver, especially if you’re a multiple pet household like we are. Highly recommended!

Would give zero stars if I could! DO NOT take your pets here if you want them actually taken care of and examined. The only thing they care about is rushing you in and out so they can get to the next pet. They ignore any concerns you have. We dont even get to talk to the actual vet while at an appointment because they are "too busy" to talk to you. About 7 months ago we brought up a lump that had formed on our lab and they brushed us off and said just keep an eye on it and againrushed us out. We ended up having to have her put down last week because she had multiple tumors. Now our other dog has a lump and again we were brushed off and rushed out. They cant even handle trimming our dogs nails. Please do yourself a favor and go to any other vet.

Brought the dog in for suspected ear infection and dog was having eye movement’s he normally doesn’t have. The tech who was in the room with us prior to the dr coming in was unfriendly didn’t even ask why we were there before then making a comment that our dog may have rabies or a disease so she needed to gown up. Then the DR came in and he was very nice but wouldn’t treat the ear infection bc he said we needed to take the dog to a neurology specialist for dogs in Naples. They wanted to do bloodwork urinalysis and ear swab for $550 but said they wouldn’t treat the ear infection anyways. Used natural ear drops and the dog is so much better. Never going there again.
