How to Save Money at Animal Birth Control Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My grandparents live in Axtell and have a bad time with stray cats just showing up. There was a litter of kittens born to a feral mama cat. We caught 2 of the kittens and brought them in for the free low cost spay and neuter to help prevent more babies. The process is easy, to bring them in and they explain everything. We ended up keeping the kittens inside a room. until they were healed and then let them back outside. We never could catch the mama cat as she always outsmarted the trap. Definitely a servixe that is needed and I am extremely thankful they have this program 🙏 they do clip the ear since they are feral outdoor cats. They do this because if someone else traps them they can know they are already spayed.

Used to love this clinic women on the phone is rude nicely, you can’t get an appointment period, I’ve been going there for years all the sudden the don’t have appointments and they won’t give me shots or heart guard or anything. And then call me rude on the phone talking about she’s non profit like someone doesn’t make money over there. Nonprofit doesn’t mean non profit someone makes money or they would be closed down. Find ur self a regular vet. Tbh they just need to get the rude old lady off the phone and find away to book appointments further out than 4-6 weeks and they would be good. When you only book out 4-6 weeks when you could book things out further your going to run buisness off. But as the lady on the phone said they don’t care.

My 7 month Chihuahua was neutered and 2 stray cats were fixed and every time has been very efficient and all animals came out doing well and healed up wonderfully! They removed a retained baby tooth for $5. Fixed the cats hernia in a very unique way! I will recommend ABC to anyone! I drive an hour away and it's absolutely worth it in price and professionalism!

This place is horrible. not only did they get my dogs mixed up in surgery years ago and one of them died as a result of this they put the wrong dog on the antibiotics . I was told by the director in the future that if anything I needed or any of my pets needed services to contact them. Recently I had shingles and missed my appointment I had to reschedule my dog they informed me I have to pay for services up front so I paid in full well I missed that appointment due to an illness and now I have to pay in full again they kept my money from me paying the first time. I even offered a Dr excuse. I don't know any place esp a place that promotes caring for pets. They are rude and unwilling to help customers even after they are the sole reason my dog died. Never again

Great job! Their intake system is fast and efficient. Picking up my baby went just as smooth.
