How to Save Money at Morgan Veterinary Practice

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I had an absolutely horrific experience with one of the vet tech/office staff while there with my senior boy who was near end of life with liver issues (unknown to us until tests were done). The woman scolded me for not warning that my boy may nip when she had grabbed him to take in the back as he appeared to be having a seizure. I was in panic and fear and I wasn't thinking clearly but that was not taken into consideration when she essentially scolded me. I apologized profusely to the vet- who laughed and said it was fine as she was digging around in his mouth examining him when he nipped. Otis was having a medical emergency and had never been to their facility before- he too was terrified. The lack of empathy from the tech in that time of difficulty was completely uncalled for. I was already struggling with the fact I would need to help my boy cross the rainbow bridge- I didn't need someone to make it even harder- making me feel like a horrible person who was just trying to hold it together in the face of her biggest fear. Do better. Be better. It costs nothing to be an understanding person when someone is going through an extremely difficult situation.

I absolutely love this veterinary clinic. We moved here 3 years ago and sought out a small business Vet because I've always felt the care is better than at an animal hospital. This place lives up to those expectations. The techs are fantastic, Dr. Morgan is compassionate and gives you options for how to resolve the issues with your pet. I've been to many Vets around the country (military) and Dr. Morgan and her team are among the best. Rooney loves them!

We absolutely LOVE Dr. Morgan. The best vet in Cape Coral in our opinion. We have seen our fair share trying to find the right one for us. Dr. Morgan truly cares for these animals. She is so kind, knowledgeable and trustworthy as well. She helped us so much when I was losing my 17year old Lhasa due to old age. Then for my other dogs and when we bred one of our babies she cared for the puppies until they went to their new forever homes. We highly recommend Dr. Morgan. She’s very fair on her fees as well. Unlike a lot of other vets in this area that seem to be doing it all for money Dr. Morgan proves she cares more for the animals time and time again. Thank you Dr. Morgan for all you do for our furry family members. 🫶🏼

I have a cat that hates vet visits. He is usually pretty wild once we get in the office and people want to start the process of getting his weight and basic information. We visited this vet office (3rd one since living in Cape Coral) and I was absolutely IMPRESSED by their care and tone. We now have found a vet that I will be taking Toby to. He did so well there. Thank you to the wonderful staff and Dr. Y'all are AMAZING!
