Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

I have been taking my cats hear for a few years. The staff is very friendly. The doctors are knowledgeable. They showed concern for my pet and clearly indicated what services they recommend but were not too forceful about them. Prices are on par or a bit less then most GTA vets.

Came here for my dog’s ear infection. My first experience here was pretty good, nothing crazy to report. My dog needed more antibiotic and the second vet was terrible. Tried to upsell me $1000 worth of tests and pressured me to sign up for all sorts of useless features and tests. Laughed at me when I shared something I didn’t know. The vet was probably the worst vet I’ve ever experienced.

We would like to thank 16th Avenue Animal Hospital for their precious ability to understand that sometimes common sense needs to override automated appointment software!! We were cat sitting for our son. The cat had a small wound on her front paw when she first arrived. After a few days however we noticed now the wound had become larger with an angry red inflammation as well as looking infected. We weren't anticipating this and started calling local veterinary clinics. Two clinics told us to fill out information online and then book an appointment. The automated system though advised the next available appointment was in two weeks... We had even called to explain but since the ""system"" said there were no appointments, the staff replying to the online request despite being apprised of the injury confirmed the cat could only be seen in two weeks. This had to be a joke. You still need common sense and humanity to tell you that an infected wound needs to be looked at immediately. When I called 16th Ave Animal Hospital, finally reception understood the timeliness needed for the injury. 16th Avenue took the time on the phone to understand the injury and asked us to bring her in saying we can fill out the forms when you arrive. Great experience. My son's cat is on the mend and the wound looking far better. Thank you 16th Avenue for remembering to be humane and to the common sense to understand a situation instead of being like other clinics who seem to have lost touch with reality and regretfully hide behide appointment software forgetting common sense. Good on you!

They tried to give my dog 10 days of antibiotics to eat AND apply without knowing whats wrong. Also tried to upsell me very hard - tried to charge me $800. Went to A DIFFERENT vet near me, got an ear drop to treat a yeast infection and it cleared up within 10 days. Did NOT need 4 doses of antibiotics/day. The total for this visit with my OTHER VET (test + medicine + visit) came to $200. Some context: My dog is 8lbs. Very small. The "vet" who saw her here could not even hold her in place to do simple checks - I've never had a vet who could not hold her. She's 8lbs and smaller than a shoe box. The "vet" kept asking me to help her hold her and struggled so much. It made my dog so upset. She then told me I'll need to pay for more tests so they know what's wrong and why her ears smelled bad. I told her I live far and can't come back easily. She then told me she will then give my small dog 10 days of antibiotics to apply in her ears + 10 days of antibiotics that I will also need to feed to my dog. That this will "kill whatever is causing the problem". Isnt it really dangerous to willy nilly'y prescribe THAT MUCH antibiotics? especially to such a small animal? (rhetorical question) Already feeling uneasy about this "vet", she then proceeded to try to upsell me on a bunch of tests. Then ended up quoting me $800 for the bill. I told her I already did a full body check for my dog 1 month ago and did not need all the tests she tried to push on me. She left it in the quote anyways. Dear 16th Animal Hospital: Is this how you treat your own pets? to give them all the medication that will kill "everything that's potentially causing this"? She's 8lbs. I'm not giving her 4 doses of antibiotics a day without being 100% confident this is what she NEEDS. I'll be an irresponsible pet owner if I allowed this - how responsible are YOU as a pet clinic for even trying to give my dog this? I know the clinic has different vets working there, and I probably got the worst one. But it seems very irresponsible to even hire this person in the first place. She did not even know how to hold a small sized dog. The assistants and receptionist here seemed more knowledgable and experienced than her. She then proceeded to prescribe medication to my dog without knowing what is wrong. She then tried very hard to upsell me on a bunch of tests that blew the bill up to $800. MY DOG JUST HAD ITCHY EARS. I ended up paying just for the visit - denied all her medications and tests, and went back to the vet near me. I am never going to this place again. How terrifying and reckless. Update - After reading through some reviews, it seems like this is how this clinic operates - doesn’t confirm what’s actually wrong but pushes major, expensive procedures and tests so they can make money. When I was away for university, my family brought my (same) dog here years ago and the vet said she needed to get “some teeth taken out”. They took 80% of her teeth out….. I wonder all the time now whether it was necessary or if this vet was just money hungry. I feel so guilty for ever letting my family step foot in this clinic. My poor dog…
