How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Emerald Hills Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Dropped my cat off today at approx 8am (this Vet honors the SNIP voucher broward county supplies to low income individuals such as myself) and by 1230pm they were calling to let me know it went well and i can pick up my critter! The receptionists were super nice and although very busy they juggles everything very well! Waiting room was pleasant and clean Cody was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions in a kind manner. There have their own dedicated little lot for parking even though theyre in a strip plaza and it was well maintained with spots clearly marked (yes handicapped spot right up front ramps and everything) i definitely recomend these wonderful peoples for your critter needs! A+

Very knowledgeable. Animals treated with dignity here because this place cares. My Nips was a hard choice. 21 year old calico. I am glad these people were there for that and the process. I am older and have had many companions in my life depart. Many times people say or act like they care, but often with age comes wisdom or experience. You can tell the difference. They care. Never have I received such personalized notes and items when I went after to gather the remains of my little girl. It meant the world to me. If you sense that missing from your doctor, try Emerald Hills. I don't believe you will be disappointed.

I needed an appointment for the vet ASAP for my boy Dexter and Emerald Hills Animal Hospital were so kind and understanding. I was able to snag an appointment after a cancellation and the woman I was speaking with was so kind. I was able to bring Dexter in, brought all his papers to get him checked out. Everyone was nice to work with, although I do have some critiques. I'm only 25 years old, and I'm not used to taking My pet to the vet and seeing how much the cost is. So when I asked the veterinary technician if they can be as transparent with me as possible I was told that it wouldn't be a problem. I was also able to receive a free vet exam for being a first-time customer. Everyone I spoke with reassured me many times that it was going to be free and I would not have to pay the $89. After Dexter was examined, the only way to conclude what was really wrong with him is if we either did blood work or x-rays. They did give me an estimate and they brought in a sheet of paper with an itemized bill showing me what the cost would be. So my mom and I decided to only do blood work to really make sure he didn't have an infection or anything wrong. She again assured me that the exam was going to be free so our total bill was going to be around $500. I actually came in knowing my budget and $500 was what I expected, so we did the blood work without hesitation. He came back all clean and we were relieved. They prescribed us medications and filled it for us at their in-house Pharmacy and then we were on our way. Then it was time to pay the bill. The only thing they did, which bothered me was they yelled the amount to the entire room and said that it was going to be $569. Immediately, I explained that I would have preferred to have an itemized bill before I've paid with my credit card. She printed one out and handed it to me and immediately I saw that I was being charged for the $89 exam fee. This upset me quite a bit and I explained that she and everyone else in the office told me that we had a free exam. She acted like she didn't know and said "Let me check again with the doctor, and I'll see what I can do." Right away they removed the exam fee and my total went all the way down to $480. This was more my price range and I had no problem paying the bill. I just wanted to bring that up to everyone's attention. Do not forget to ask for an itemized bill before just handing people your credit card. Other than that they are great vet and they are all very kind.

If I could give zero stars I would. I called in advance to ask if we could come in and how much it costs. Staff tells us to come in and the price for each dog. Ended up one of my dogs had an emergency as the tech was taking my dogs in. I agreed for the consultation fee. The vet comes in and shows me a bone that was jammed in my dog's upper mouth. Then this facility manager walks in with an estimate of fees. Does not explain every single line with fees to me. I had to ask what each thing was. She says one of the meds they didnt have so I have to order it online. She put in my online pharmacy 60 pills and says my dog only needs 30 pills. I didnt want to wait 4-6 business days for shipping so I asked for paper script for both meds she needed. I come back to get them. They tell me we already gave her one med. Without even calling me to tell me which infection she had. The medication quote was $50-$100. Upon coming to get the final invoice med price changed. Again without telling me which infection she had. The test alone was $74. Then disposal fee $10. When i come pick up the script for the one medication it says 15 pills. Why did u originally tell me my dog needs 30? Yet u put 60 pills in the cart online. Then the washing fee with teeth brushing. I get quoted one price. I get the invoice. One says 65 and the other 74. Between price changes all in one day. Between the number of pills my dog needs...Im telling you stay far far away from this place. The facility manager is on a power trip. I kept telling her I do not want to engage with you. She kept trying to talk to me. I said I want to talk to someone else please. She is nuts. Cant talk to the vet alone. Cant talk to front desk without her butting in. Staff not trained well. Stories keep changing. Prices keep changing. She tells me my dog might need a recheck for another dose of ear infection med..I said why do I need to come back here. Why cant u just give me a script? U know why? Bec they want another payment for a service fee. I have 1 estimate. 2 invoices plus 2 paid invoices. I have been in this office for YEARS with dr Tropper. It was never this way. This so called manager has ruined this place. I am never ever going back. They never let us know they sold the place. The prices went up. Now the prices change on the same day. Is it my fault ur staff wasnt trained right to know what to charge people. Why do u need to chase customers around ur place and not let them talk to other employees? Why do you need to control ur own staff this way? She's not normal...guys stay away from this place. Plenty of other professional places that dont overcharge and treat you this way. People warned me when this place sold. They told me to leave and go where they were going. I didnt listen and I stayed. After today, I am never going back. See picture of her white hair walking around with a laptop. This place went down since Tropper left. Find another place to go to...its not worth it...

Cannot say enough great things about Dr.Jove and her team. When I started with them my labs were both older (12&13 yrs old at the time) and both have since passed from cancer but Dr.Jove’s team were amazing through the entire process of giving my babies as much longevity as they could possibly have. We’re now taking our new puppy to them and she has received the greatest of care.
