How to Save Money at Four Corners Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I’ve been coming here for months, and this is genuinely the best vet in Four Corners! I was initially nervous because of some of the reviews, but the doctor is amazing. My previous vet tried drawing blood on my 8-week-old kitten eight times and said they couldn’t do it, but the team here got it on the first try. On top of that, the doctor has incredible availability, other clinics had me waiting weeks for an appointment. Highly recommend!

Our experience at this animal hospital was incredibly disappointing because of the lack of compassion we received. We brought our 15-year-old dog in hoping for guidance and an honest assessment. Instead, the appointment felt cold and impersonal. Rather than making us feel supported, the doctor spent much of the visit discussing his own credentials. We left feeling like our dog was being treated as a case rather than a beloved family member. We followed the treatment plan exactly as recommended and paid for multiple X-rays and medications because we wanted to do everything possible to help our dog. After starting the medications, he became significantly more lethargic and struggled to get around even more than before. What hurt the most wasn’t the treatment itself, it was the lack of empathy afterward. There was no follow-up call or concern after we shared how he was doing. We were simply told to come back in a week. Seeking reassurance, we got a second opinion from another veterinarian in Windermere called Golden Heart Vet who were so gracious and warm through our process. After examining our dog, they compassionately and clearly explained that given his age and condition it was clear he was at the end of his life and that the kindest decision was to let him go peacefully. Although it was devastating to hear, we were grateful for their honesty. Looking back, I wish we had received that same honesty from the beginning instead of being told that dogs can live 20-plus years if they’re cared for properly, which left us feeling like we weren’t doing enough. We weren’t looking for false hope and instead felt taken advantage of. We were looking for an honest and compassionate opinion so we could make the best decision for our dog and ended up instead prolonging (and adding to) a big financial and emotional loss (this was all in the span of 4 days also).

So honest review, the doctor and staff are excellent, professional. I have two Gsd and one cat. Doctor is bit direct, so he can come as assertive, but he good and excellent surgeon, did surgery on my cat with excellent results, prices are okay, could be better. Overall I trust this place with loved ones. So no brainer.

A little overdue but wanted to still leave a review. We brought our cat Tip in while we were down in our RV for the winter. Dr. Benedict was very professional and very thoroughly explained what Tip"'s condition was and what we needed to change for him going forward. Grateful he was able to be saved and is now happy and healthy! Thank you!

When you take your fur baby to the vet, it is not the easiest thing because there’s something wrong. You do not need to added stress that this doctor’s lack of empathy adds to it. The doctor’s wife was nice, but Dr. Mohit was HORRIBLE!!!!!! Rude!!!!!! No empathy!!!!!!!! yes they did labs. Yes I paid almost $700 but where was the empathy? Where was the caring? VERY DISMISSIVE!!!!!!!!! Never again!!!!!
