How to Save Money at Congress Avenue Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr para and his team are absolutely amazing. He is really good with my dog from the beginning of the visit where they shower her with treats to the end where they walk us out to the front. Everyone always has a smile on their face and it’s super helpful. The team is very accommodating with appointments and punctuality as well

Absolutely rhe worst service. I have asked multiple times for my records to be sent over as I will NEVER be nack to this establishment (if you can even call it that) and they send partial records. No rabies certificate.. I call back to get it and all of a sudden they can't find my dog. She then says "found it. Sending it." Hangs up. Tried calling back to confirm the clown at the desk utilizes the proper email, as they put the account under a random phone number, and they refuse to answer the phone. This place is an absolute joke. Receptionist couldn't even remember the dogs name... DOOBIE.... not Dolby. Not scooby. Not doby.... DOOBIE.... Besides the horrible receptionist, the doctor is a joke. Brought a 10 week old puppy in for their first ever vet visit and they completely man handled him. Zero patience or care for the animal. Rushing him in and out. Then refused to do a worm test ON A NEW BORN PUPPY! Asked what symtpoms i should watch for after vaccines and he said "he should be fine"... 2 hours later my dog is screaming in pain to touch. Didn't even tell me they gave the dog the rabies shot and and still never provided me a certificate... Avoid this joke of an establishment at all costs. If could be zero stars, it would be. This place is such a joke, I drove 40 minutes south to imperial animal hospital in delray for DOOBIES next vet visit instead of 6 minutes to their location. Not worth the time, money or the risk allowing their negligence near your animals.

I started taking my dog to Congress Avenue Animal Hospital in mid-September while looking for a more affordable veterinary option, and I’m glad I did. Shortly after becoming a patient, my dog suffered a severe injury. Dr. Para was able to quickly and accurately diagnose the issue, which made a stressful situation more manageable. While he wasn’t able to perform the surgery himself, he has continued to provide excellent post-operative care and guidance every step of the way. The entire team has been exceptional, professional, compassionate, and efficient. Dr. Para is knowledgeable and calm, and Cadence and Nicole deserve a special shout-out for being incredibly friendly, patient, and kind. They make every visit feel supportive! Care here is fast, and very reasonably priced. It’s clear this team cares about both pets and their people. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Congress Avenue Animal Hospital to anyone looking for quality, compassionate, and affordable veterinary care!

I had to take Lil Misty my Kitty to the vet today. My original vet is out of town or out of the country and he doesn’t have afternoon hours if you’re not there by 10 in the morning, it’s there’s no scene so plus I think he raised his prices but anyway I’m glad it happened that way because I just found an absolutely amazing new vet doctor isn’t it for the right reason not just to clean out your bank account caring compassionate as his staff is I’m sure glad I found him and will be going back when I need his services
