How to Save Money at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

All Creatures in Palmer… where do I even begin? We have finally found our vet, and I honestly wish we had found them sooner. From the moment you pull into the parking lot, this place has that classic small-town Palmer feel—in the best possible way. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can tell right away that the staff genuinely care about the animals and the people who bring them in. We saw Dr. Barnes, and she was absolutely amazing. She took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all of our questions, and never once made us feel pressured into unnecessary tests or extra charges. It’s such a relief to find a vet who is honest, straightforward, and truly focused on what your pet actually needs. My only real concern is that they might have tried to keep Piglet—because she loved them so much I’m pretty sure she was considering moving in permanently. I wouldn’t have blamed them either. They make you feel at home the second you walk through the door, and you can just feel that everyone there truly loves their job and the animals they care for. That kind of atmosphere is hard to find. I cannot recommend this place enough for your four-legged family members. If I could give ten stars, I absolutely would.

I have no idea how I have failed to leave our favorite vet clinic a review! I have actually been coming to All creatures since my parents had pets when I was a kid, but as an adult with our two little pugs I can tell you that these guys are the best. They will listen to you, do absolutely everything in their power to help you, and treat you like amazing customers! I consider most of the staff friends or family including Auntie Deb You know who you are lol. Weave had new puppies and the unfortunate times of putting pets down with all creatures, and a matter if it's a good time or a sad time they are always there to make your experience the best it can be. I wish they had an emergency wing where they took those types of calls because we love working with them so much. Regardless, your furry friends will be in the best of hands at all creatures.

Vet gave incorrect dx to my 18 yo cat (saying diabetes) due to not running the main test well accepted as standard for such a dx in cats. I was instructed to start her on insulin and spent well over 200$ on diabetic supplies as a result. They first told me to get a libre monitor to get a sugar baseline for her. Said on the phone they would show me how to put it on but then refused to show me when I arrived for my appt calling that a "liability". I changed vets. New vet showed me how to place the monitor, also did a fructosamine lab (the primary test for this dx in cats). My cat does NOT have diabetes! (Also confirmed by steady bloodsugar levels with the monitor). All Creatures giving a wrong dx and treatment plan could have killed my cat if I hadn't questioned things and gone to another vet. Attempts to resolve this with them directly (calling, asking to speak to someone, being told they'd call back and being met with silence) have just confirmed for me their lack of care and accepting responsibility for the diagnosis they are handing these pets and dangerous instructions they are giving pet owners. If you love your pets, take them elsewhere to a vet who actually knows what they are doing.

We have brought our pets in to All Creatures for a few years now and appreciate that they take such great care of them. We, unfortunately, just had to put down our 11.5 year old girl and they were extremely supportive and courteous the entire time. We will continue to keep our pets here as long as we can, knowing they're getting great care.

Our normal vet didn't even answer the phone. I called All Creatures as a new patient never been seen before with a very sick dog. My heeler threw up around 4am and by 9am he was collapsing. All creatures got him in right away, immediately began working on him. Dr. Zimmerman dx him with severe gastroenteritis which I had no idea could lead to shock and death in dogs. She literally did everything she could for my dog. I truly believe she saved his life. He spent the whole day receiving IV care and was sent home with a whole bag of meds. Hes not 100% yet but doing far better than when we brought him in. She was incredibly kind and compassionate as well as the rest of the staff. I would highly recommend them to anyone. Not sure Poncho would have made it without Dr. Zimmerman. We're extremely grateful.
