Could not recommend Trupanion more! My 12 month old puppy was diagnosed with Bilateral Hip Dysplasia (really bad). Trupanion approved a life saving, and quite costly, Total Hip Replacement surgery for both hips. First hip done and our pup is doing fantastic, one more to go. This surgery would not have been affordable without Trupanion and our pup would have been doomed to a painful and short life. Because of Trupanion we can look forward to enjoying the long, and healthy life of our beautiful dog Henry.

Ridiculous Fee Increase

I have 3 2 year old dogs, 1 male 2 female all mixed breeds. Originally, on starting with Trupanion, I was paying just over $300 Canadian per month for the 3 dogs. In the last few months my large dog (Major) fee has increased over 50%. The total increase for the 3 dogs is now over 25% and now over $400 Canadian per month. Trupanion have not supplied an acceptable answer as to why the drastic increase. only a resending of the original fee increase E-Mail. No multi dog discount is offered.

Top Notch Customer Service

I was chatting with someone online mentioning that it seemed like my payment was taking quite a long time to process. The man who I was talking to gave me instructions on how to close the window to ensure my payment wouldn't go through and then called me to walk through everything with me. It was great because I had some questions I wanted answered and he followed through on each and every one. As much as I don't hope to use this insurance, the piece of mind is worth it on its own.

Worry free

When one has a seriously injured dog, the financial aspect is just one more thing to worry about. Trupanion took away this worry and let me concentrate on my poor little dog

Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like: Examination fees Wellness and preventive care Elective, or cosmetic procedures Sales tax, where applicable Like all pet insurance providers, Trupanion does not cover pre-existing conditions.
