DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY
Our dog ingested something in January 2015 that got stuck in his intestines and had to have surgery. He recovered fine but in June of 2015 he grabbed a pine cone and we were concerned that he might have another issue so we took him into the vet and found out he was fine. We saw a brochure at the Vet for Trupanion and we contacted them to get insurance.
Two years later (July 2017) our dog ingested some material and it got stuck and unfortunately had to have another operation. We were suck about this but felt comforted that we had insurance and knew the care would be covered. Well, our claim was denied because they claimed his trip to the Vet in June 2015 when we were only concerned constituted a repetitive activity. HE IS A DOG THAT IS WHAT THEY DO.
. Illnesses or Injuries that arise from a repetitive and specific
activity that leads to medical or surgical treatment of Your Pet
(e.g., ingestion of foreign materials and bite wounds) if the same
or similar activity occurred two times within the 18 month period
prior to the Policy Enrollment Date.
They were more than happy to collect our money for two years but when this happened they simply denied. THIS IS HOW INSURANCE WORKS AND WHY IT IS NOT WORTH GETTING. They are good at collecting not so good at covering.
DON'T WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!!!
