Straightforward. No games.

Spot has renewed my faith in the crummy insurance industry. I did my homework and read horror stories of tricky claims denials before going with Spot because they had more positive customer experience reviews. I wanted something with affordable premiums and more importantly, something I could actually use with real humans who will help me, when I actually needed it. Look…no one wants to buy - much less use -insurance. But when you need it, choose a company with some integrity. Who wants to keep paying premiums and then never actually get reimbursed when you need the coverage? Not me! With Spot, my naughty puppy’s accident and illness were both covered as agreed to and I got my claims approved quickly. No games, no gimmicks, no gotchas.

they do what they promise to do

If you read the fine print and understand the policy—I don’t see any reason to be upset. Every new illness invoice I’ve ever filed has been covered without an issue. It’s actually super easy to file claims too. The app lets you submit an invoice and explanation with the claim, and then the reimbursement goes through in a couple of weeks (after the deductible and coinsurance, ofc) . I am also happy with the premium I pay to take care of my baby. Her first year, the coverage they provided actually exceeded the cost of the premium I paid. I expected a premium increase because of this but I was happy to see they didn’t increase my premium. Spot is totally worth every penny.

Exceeded my expectations!!!

I had about 5 choices of companies that my work partners with for pet insurance. I initially went with spot due to its adjustability. I liked I could pick my deductible, yearly coverage amount, etc. having a puppy I added the wellness package as well. Unfortunately my puppy ended up getting severe allergies and we had to take her to a dermatologist for testing, which was more than I expected. Long story short she put on allergy shots and 5 other oral meds to help clear her skin. The claims process was soooo easy, fast and they stuck by their word. Since it was not preexisting it was all covered. I will say the preventative is covered at a baseline cost so if your vet charges more you will get the base amount reimbursed, it’s still saving!!! I will keep spot pet insurance forever and have recommended it to every one I come into contact with.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). plan costs vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250, $500, $750 or $1000 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. Spot Pet Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee.
