Easy to File a Claim but it Takes a While to Process

I submit claims through the VitusVet app. It's easy to submit the claim via the app. My only issue is that it takes a couple of days from when you submit the claim on the app to receive an email confirming that your claim was received. It takes even more longer to process the claim (sometimes a few weeks).

So happy I have Nationwide

Nationwide is my first experience with pet health insurance and I will never use another one. The ease of applying, filing claims, and the prompt review and payment within 30 days is fantastic! In my over 2 years experience with Nationwide as my dog's insurer, there has only been one claim that was sent back to me for more information, and it was legitimately my error when I filed it. I gathered up the information, faxed it over, and the claim was reprocessed within days. I truly can't recommend a better pet health insurance company!

Life-Safer

I adopted a healthy puppy when he was 10 weeks old with no health issues. Insured him because I'm naturally anxious and wanted to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Well, as it turns out my pup is medically complex to say the least. He had anal gland issues, has chronic GI problems, and has anxiety. His first year was expensive and traumatic for us both. Being able to let go of financial worries and know that Nationwide would reimburse 90% of the expenses was life-saving and allowed me to focus entirely on getting my pup back to health. This year, his health has been much better managed overall. However, last week was quite a week and I ended up calling the VetHelpline three times to seek advice about possible emergencies. The on-call vets were wonderful, reassuring, and walked me through what to do. I don't know what I would have done without that service! I will say that the premiums are expensive as sin (more than double what I pay for my own medical insurance), but in my case, they have been WELL worth it.
