My little pom had an accident which…
My little pom had an accident which resulted in two broken legs. It happened during the grace period for after the free policy had ended and ability to officially enroll. I called AKC Insurance and they said YES her vet bills are covered up to $1600, but if I wanted to bump that up to $8000 then it was covered! $5300 worth of vet bills!! I submitted my claim and had a check in about 10 days, no problems AT ALL!!!!!
Since then I have been reimbursed for her vaccines and wellness vet visits, and it will pay towards spay and micro-chip!! I am now a huge fan of AKC pet insurance

Getting better at Claim Processing Timeliness!
I'm shocked at the massive improvement you've made to process claims. What used to take weeks or months to process and reimburse claims is now taking about a week. I'm so surprised - but so grateful. You've made tough times (let's face it the insurance covers the "hard times") more bearable so we can focus on caring for our loved family member.
Monthly Cost
$5 – $90 depending on coverage options chosen.
Coverage
You have a co-pay of 20% after your annual deductible.
The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.
Payout Limits
Per incident limit of $1,500 – $8,000 and annual limits of $3,000 – $16,000 depending on your chosen plan.
Deductible
Choose from $100 – $1,000 annual deductible.
Age Limits
Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll with no upper age limit. Coverage options available for senior pets.
Waiting Period
Coverage goes into effect one day after enrollment. There is a 5-day wait period for accident claims and 14-day wait period for illness claims.
AKC Pet Insurance provides 30 days of accident and illness insurance coverage included with AKC registration for newly registered puppies.
Exclusions
Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
Customizable plans allow you to add-on coverage for inherited and congenital conditions, exam fees and wellness care.
Cancer coverage included in base accident and illness plan.
