How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Union Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

In a world becoming increasingly impersonal, Union Vet is a breath of fresh air. The doctors and clinicians always go above and beyond to make our dog comfortable and happy. He is always in the best of care at Union Vet! The personal touch is noticed and extremely appreciate!

I’ve been taking my pets to Union Vet for nearly ten years — first with my cat, and now with my dog. The Union Vet team has always been great with my pets, and super compassionate and collaborative with me. They helped my cat through complicated illnesses and her end of life care, and now they’re helping my rescue pup become calm, confident, and comfortable at the vet. And as long as you’re taking your pet in for regular checkups, they’re incredibly willing to answer quick questions and provide advice about over-the-counter medications by email or phone. I’d highly recommended bringing your pets here!

I have been going to Union Vet with my cats over many years. I like the fact that the practice is local, but more importantly, the staff has always been super helpful and kind. Dr. Yim is my expert of choice and I appreciate all that he has done to explain the situation with my cats, its possibilities and limitations, as well as his kindness and compassion in answering questions and offering alternatives. Thanks to all who have helped my pets and me over the years!

I have mixed feelings about this clinic. I’ve been here about four times over the past couple of years, and my dog has been seen by three different vets. If you need to visit this clinic, I would recommend Dr. Sydney Slottje. She was knowledgeable, kind, and empathetic both to my dog’s situation and to my budget concerns. Unfortunately, my experiences with the two male vets I saw were disappointing. In both cases, I was left with the impression that there was more focus on costly procedures and financial gain than on genuinely listening to my concerns or discussing reasonable options for my dog’s care. My experience with Dr. Yim was especially negative. During the consultation, I found him rude, arrogant, dismissive, and at times aggressive in the way he spoke to me, repeatedly interrupting me before I could finish explaining my concerns. What was especially disappointing was that his demeanor noticeably changed after I agreed to move forward with the procedure he recommended, which cost over $1,000. The interaction became more cordial only after I agreed to proceed. Because I was under significant time constraints regarding my dog’s care, I felt I had no real choice but to move forward at the time. It was a very uncomfortable experience overall, and based on my interactions with both male vets, I will not be returning to this clinic.

Union Veterinary Clinic is the best. Several years ago when my much-loved cat was aging, the staff were incredibly patient, compassionate, and gentle—they treated both of us with real kindness during a difficult time. Recently, I brought in a newly adopted cat, and the experience was just as wonderful. The staff were warm, welcoming, and seemed to share my excitement for my new family member. I feel lucky to have found a clinic that combines professionalism with genuine compassion and love of animals. Highly recommend.
