Edit/ update: I was told she was due for a teeth cleaning which requires anesthesia (understandable). I got a quote for $1,400 plus a bunch of other fees — pre-surgical visit, bloodwork, pre and post op medicines, etc. — that were NOT included in the estimate and costs were not provided. This was like the “small text” within the email that I would’ve missed had I not paid close attention. I get that these things are necessary, but it feels like a general tooth cleaning here would be $2,000, which is insane because that’s the price I paid for my other dog to have major surgery. I maintain that the staff were very friendly and helpful, but the price of this seems absurd. I also didn’t really like how they note the additional fees and don’t give any estimates or include it in the original estimate provided. ——— First time using small door and it was a great experience. Easy to book an appt and they were right on schedule. They were very patient with my dog, offering her treats and pets to make her comfortable. Overall a great experience and I’m happy to continue her care with them. Plus they donate to an animal shelter for leaving a review!

My gigantic Yorkie Stu always needs to be sedated to get his nails clipped. The wonderful vet and her nurse Lauren were able to subdue him. They were able to check him over, make sure he didn’t have an ear infection and clipped his nails with no sedation!!!! That was a first!! The prices were great and we will definitely be going back!!

This was our second time at Spring Valley, DC Small Door Vet. Dr. Jake London was friendly and thoroughly knowledgeable: even after nine years with two cats and several vet practices, we learned valuable new information from him about feline care. Dr. London and Nurse Joao were great, too, about explaining billing and the best options for our cats. Highly recommended.

Small Door has been a great solution for our family. Their patient care for both of our dogs, especially including a flexible approach with our anxiety filled rescue pup, have been amazing!

Love Small Door Vet! Easy to get appts. Love the app, as I can quickly make an appt while on the go. Dr. London is great! Very knowledgeable & personable and spends a lot of time with us, so it never feels rushed. Nurse Jouao is also great. Everyone there genuinely loves the animals. Pups from the neighborhood stop by to get a treat when they are out for a walk! ❤️ Small Door has a family feel to it; you don't feel like just another face in the crowd. I also love that they have an espresso machine & drinks in the lobby for everyone to enjoy!
